Redken Shimmer One Shines for Patrick McIvor

MP3 File

As spring blossoms into summer, maybe you are one of those women who look at their hair and go "blah, I want something better. More fabulous!". Me too! I am one of those people. It’s how I wound up blonde. It only started with a few highlights and then evolved over time into full-time blondehood. And Baby, I AM BLONDE!!  Heck it’s LA and that’s the look–though there are  fab looks out there for the raven-haired brunettes you are seeing on all the magazine covers and even MORE fabulousness for redheads. Sigh.. What’s a girl to do? Be chained to the   bottle of hair color?
NEVER!!!

REDKEN Master Colorist Patrick McIvor of Cutler Salons, NYC is the perfect person to talk to about the latest in hair color products because that’s all he does.
He’s so " in demand" for his training for colorists, that he’s even got his own website where the pros can listen to various podcasts that he’s done on how to  create stunning hair color for clients. Wow!! A guy in the beauty industry who totally gets what I was trying to do- that blew me away and we spent 20 minutes talking about the podcasting phenomena. When you are in demand as much as Patrick is, you can understand why he does it. It’s amazing– and here’s why.

As one of the key  colorists for REDKEN,  Patrick gets to help create and test drive all the new products and he’s been waiting for the latest –and greatest- hair color product to hit the pro market:  ShimmerOne.

Shimmer One is a radically different hair color than anything else currently on the market. Bet that you’ve heard that before!! This time it’s TRUE! Shimmer One is a new color presentation that’s about to change how you think, look and feel about color.

If you are happy with your current shade but just want something a bit brighter, more shine, a bit more vibrant, Shimmer One can give you that rich dimensional shimmering color plus shine  that will enhance your look.

If you want to go a smidge lighter for summer, then you  go  up  a shade lighter for a natural lift that will bring a bit more sparkle to your hair, your look while providing rich shimmering color — SANS AMMONIA!!

How to find the right shade? There are 21 shades in 10 tone groups or families plus Clear. Your stylist can help you select the shade that’s right for you.

Here’s the kicker– it takes only 20 minutes to use Shimmer One on your hair! TWENTY Minutes–not 45 or 60. So you are in–and out– in nothing flat. You go from ho-hum to head-turner  fast!! . It’s an amazing product. It’s good for hair that’s never been colored; It’s fine for hair that’s currently colored; it’s ideal for those with grey.

Want to know a secret? The touch-up root is less visible.. so you can spread out your retouch appointments a bit longer. You don’t have to worry about your roots being so visible–because they won’t be! The regrowth line is less visible because it’s the difference is less severe, less pronounced. Heck it’s not moi  saying this… It’s Patrick McIvor from Cutler Salon. Listen to the podcast and be mesmerized, hypnotized and generally enthralled with this master colorist and you too will be heading to Redken.com to find the closest salon to you that will have Shimmer ONE hair color!

It’s definitely worth doing. I am scheduling myself up for this one. I will report back with results (now if I was just in NYC, I could have Patrick do it. Hey Patrick, do you ever come to LA??)

See you at the Redken Salon!

  1. I have level 7 natural haircolor with blonde highlights and use to use Shades above w/clear to lift my regrowth without any brassiness or obvious change. What would I use with Shimmer to acheive the same results without looking like I only used peroxide?

I would suggest you contact a Redken stylist either in NYC or in your home town via the website and talk to them directly. Personally I was not able to use Shimmer One on my hair since I have highlights and base from a dark brown natural color.
Your best bet is to speak to a professional.. that isn’t me!
