Want to know who the next big music stars are going to be? If you want to wow your friends with your musical "insider scoops" and finesse, then check out the Hotel Cafe Tour that’s criss-crossing across the US and will land in various cities providing concert stops featuring Joshua Radin and the Cary Brother as anchor musicians and sharing the stage with 4 other groups at every show – showcasing 6 songs per set. Lucky me, I got to talk to Joshua before he hit the concert trail and it’s an interesting talk that shows off the theory of "six degrees" (or less) is definitely happening! LISTEN to the podcast and here Joshua talk about life on the road, what’s coming up and what’s been happening in his life!

You might not recognize the name JOSHUA RADIN right now, but you soon will. You will definitely recognize his music if you saw the movie THE LAST KISS or watch Greys Anatomy, Scrubs, and North Shore. His new CD entitled We Were Here  is from Columbia Records and is going to fly up the charts. It’s a really different sort of CD –his voice isn’t typical of what you are currently hearing on the pop radio. He’s got a musicality and sensitivity that is obvious with in the first couple lines. Joshua presents a different sort of feel to the music. Think John Mayer but less bluesy and a bit more poetic. Think Sting with an equal literary depth but with a  better vocal range. Add in hints of Simon (lyrics) & Garfunkel (vocal phrasing) with a touch of Cat Stevens and Peter Gabriel with more lyricism and that’s as close as I can get to explain his sound. Currently  he is compared with Nick Drake and Elliott Smith. It’s romantic (as a genre like the musical or art genre of Romanticism.) It’s thought-provoking.  It’s something that can be both background music as well as something to really focus on. He’s more poetic and he puts more depth into  his lyrics than most–while avoiding the "pop" musical stamp. Joshua’s style offers his CD a longevity as something that you will keep and even download into an ipod because the songs resonate  with most people.

Sorry for the "small" photos but click and make them a bit bigger— and ladies, you will be HAPPY you did because this is one piece of "eye candy" tnat should not be missed!

  1. Hello,
I am listening to your podcast with Josh Radin for the first time, and I find it very hard to listen to. No offense, but I’m listening to it because I am a JOSHUA RADIN fan, and I want to hear what HE has to say. I thought the conversation could have been cut down to what he has to say. And also, I felt like you really weren’t listening to a lot of what he had to say. You seemed very distracted, and he would say something and there’d be this awkward pause, and you’d come in like “umm… yah, I agree.” I think your podcasting skills could use some fine tuning. Just remember, we want to hear about THE ARTISTS… not your life. 🙂

  2. Well said Lindsay. Unfortunately he was on cell phone as was I and the problems are connecting without the drops.
Since I had no way of being able to connect with him by land line, that’s the unfortunate circumstances of the podcasts. Later I was able to go in and edit some things but at that time I was unable to do that.
Hope you listened to the other podcasts
