Holiday Celebrations: Don't Just Go "Anywhere"– Head to Joe's for a FABULOUS Meal/Culinary Adventure

In LA, it’s hard to decide where to go to eat–whether you want celebrity spotting, a particular food category or if you have a special occasion in mind– even if it’s just to chill out. Here’s a hands down winning recommendations: Joe’s Restaurant on Abbott Kinney in Venice. .

This unassuming building from the outside houses an outstanding restaurant with interesting interior rooms inside and some fabulous California- French cuisine by chef Joseph Miller– obviously the namesake for the restaurant. Casual yet elegant, sleek yet comfortable, it’s the perfect destination for a meal for any occasion– including no occasion at all.
Visiting Joes’ Restaurant is a lot like taking a vacation. When I went into the restaurant the first time, I saw the adorable (and well stocked) bar and then was escorted to a table near a window.

What’s interesting is that Joe’s Restaurant keeps things cozy but not so close to another table that you can hear someone’s conversation. It allows you to have a real conversation without it being overly noisy. You have a chance to really relax and enjoy some privacy but also feel like you are partaking in a culinary experience–which is exactly what Joe Miller wants you to have.

The patio is delightful from late spring to late fall– and makes a lovely evening meal or a casual brunch even more enjoyable.

The wine list is impressive and the wine cellar (for whites) is a vertical wine cellar in a corner of the dining room. Service is great: thoughtful and friendly without being overbearing. The recommendations between a couple of dishes were surprisingly on target and I was very happy ( try entranced) with the dish that I ordered that was sufficient to feed two. Let’s not even touch the addictive dessert menu– and everything looks– and tastes divine!!

As executive chef, Joe Miller really makes sure that the kitchen runs smoothly and the food is consistenly a great presentation that tastes good. Recently the restaurant was awarded a single star by Michelin restaurant reviews– which means it should be on your list of must see/must try restaurants.
