Denise Richards & Signorelli Host a Breast Cancer Awareness Event Benefiting Susan G. Komen!

In an act of shear Hollywood hutzpah, Denise Richards hosted a red-carpet charity event to launch Signorelli’s Love collection, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, at the Planet Blue boutique in Beverly Hills opposite a much anticipated runway from Christian Audigier at Smashbox.

Style speculators and LA fashionistas were pleased to find that there was no shortage of support for this event even though many outlets were still at Smashbox snapping away. Fabulous platters of sushi, red & white wine and scrumptious chocolate truffles were devoured by a crowd that had been considerably underfed and overworked earlier in the week at Smashbox where… gasp… Mercedes Benz and American Express members were allowed to purchase tickets to the shows.

One editor was shocked to find that she was seated in the second row of an important show sandwiched in between two women who knew NOTHING about fashion. Sadly enough, there were too many touristas at the tents to count. The real fashion crowd were often blinded by the flashes of tiny tourista “point-and-shoots.” This delightful pause at Planet Blue in Beverly Hills was like an oasis in the desert.

Other celebrities in attendance were Krista Allen, Mena Suvari, Ashley Jones, and Haley Bennet., who mixed and mingled freely through Planet Blue at a very relaxed and laid back pace.

This is the LA Fashion Scene as we remember it. At the event Denise Richards proudly announced her support of Signorelli and their goal of raising $20,000 for Susan G. Komen through the sale of Signorelli’s Love collection to help put an end to breast cancer.

Since the overall purpose of the event was to give to a worthy cause, the vibe was considerably brighter, less manic and certainly more spiritually fulfilling than usual. Signorelli is the same line that brought you the Omni Peace tee launched by Courtney Cox which has raised over $300,000 for aid in Africa and The Children’s Health Fund tee supported by Nicole Richie to raise $400,000 for children’s health care in America.

The trend of celebrities supporting charities that has been re-ignited recently by Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is a godsend to charities who may otherwise suffer because of the failing economy. This event was certainly evidence of that. Special kudos to Denise Richards for being so thoroughly “uncomplicated” for a cause. We’ve been watching her show and we’re getting to like her more and more.
