Get Thee to Checkers Downtown to TGIT-it at "FOUR" & Art Walk LA Tonight!

It’s TGIT– and if there was ever a reason to go sit down with a friend or two (or more) and chill out, it’s this week. Why? Just because it’s been “that kind of week”..
Don’t go to your usual places– step out of your comfort zone and find something new and different: Checkers Downtown. Their TGIT happens every Thursday from 4-8 with various drinks and wines sponsoring the events with unusual small plates paired to that week’s sponsor!
This week’s pairing event at Checkers Downtown featurees Rodney Strong Vineyards, with $4 glasses of wine and $4-6 small plates. . (Stay long enough and that could be enough to consider it dinner!) This is a popular time for tastings of the previous year’s bottlings, and for discussions of how the past year’s weather might have influenced this year’s harvest.
Also there’s an art walk too downtown that night so you could have a glass or two of wine a few small plates and go hit the art walk event.

This week’s menu will include the following 4 small plates:
Grilled local calamari Greek salad – artichoke, olive, roasted peppers in a garlic aioli ( maybe the Chardonnay? Pinot Noir would be an interesting choice)
Golden chanterelle risotto and parmigiano reggiano ( to die for!)
Colorado lamb shank cannelloni with a French onion consommé ( yum!)
Black mission fig, shaved la quercia prosciutto, mache salad (lovely and perfect for the Sauvignon Blanc)
Paired with the following wines by sponsored spirit Rodney Strong Vineyards (Sonoma County):
Rodney Strong Vineyards “Charlotte’s Home” Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (light enough in taste to make it so very easy to drink)
RSV “Chalk Hill” Chardonnay 2007
RSV “Russina River Valley” Pinot Noir 2008 (this will be lush)
RSV “Alexander Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
