LA-Story.com: How did you get involved in graphic design, formal training, on the job, artist?
Marcy Pellegrino:
I fell in love with fine arts at a young age, moved to graphic design and than advertising for the Conceptual training. The conceptual part of creative is innate and cannot be taught. I just had to hone it, through on the job creative in NYC and ingenious award winners /mentors in the industry. My passion for giving clientele the personal creative attention that everyone deserves really is a rule of thumb I continue to pt out there.
LA-S: How did you get into the paper goods end of things creating cards, invitations and stationary?
MP: It all began with my wedding. I did not even bother viewing wedding books. I knew what, my now husband and I wanted and ran with that idea. As a creative, you just explore EVERY angle and possibility until you and your clients are happy. Using unusual exotic papers can draw much attention as well!
I like to take what inspires my clientele and create from there. Whether they are into tradional, MOD, contemporary, vintage, and so forth for wedding and stationery. Hence Sassi Concepts & Design Inc. launched ‘Yours By Design’ custom invitations & stationery.
I provide my clients with a breadth of customization ranging from the simple to the opulent, all the while incorporating thematic elements …the possibilities are endless!
LA-S: What other products do you do?
MP: As an award-winning creative, I also create luggage tags, hangtags, partial edible cards –anything custom needed! Yes very luxe edible cards. People love them. (laughing)

Pellegrino) has also collaborated with Founder and CEO Cindy McClure of Dress the Drink, LLC. for all unparalleled creative needs that are always one step ahead of trends that exude and inspire exclusive luxury drink and dessert garnishments, mixology, retail packaging and unique branding.
In addition to all the custom creative invitations and stationery, Sassi Concepts & Designs, Inc. runs the whole gamut of advertising. Creating logos, brand image overhauls, marketing collateral, displays, web sites, retail packaging, bus wraps; you name it.
LA-S: how do you work with your online client?
MP:I like to work with them via phone initially so I can really and truly understand what they need and really catch their personality. I like to make sure they get everything they want from start to finish. I am in the service based business, and be it that it may- custom at that. So really listening to your clientele from brides to corporate VPs to Celebrities, the goal is always the same!
LA-S: What was the hardest/longest project? Why?
MP: I was asked to participate as a vendor at the Wedding Salon In NYC at the Roosevelt Hotel. It was requested that my creative was a theme of “Organic meets Luxe.” As always my creative had to be perfect; from the menu cards to the invitations, in lieu of favors cards and seating Cards.
Other notables were participated included David Tutera, Sylvia Weinstock, CECI NYC, Brett Mathews Photography and so forth.
Sassi, Inc. set a new standard with our and custom designed Organic River Stick Majestic Menus at 14″, paneled paper and uniquely designed. Spanish moss was included with the die-cut invitations. People in the industry definitely noticed the new tangible and sustainable standard! I could not leave my table for even 5 minutes–but that is a good thing. (laughing)
LA-S: What was the easiest project? Why
MP: No project should be easy, as everything I strive to create is the best for my clients. If the client is already branded that certainly helps with the follow through with any creative desired. However nothing should be as simple as “It’s Done.”
LA-S: What’s missing in the marketplace that you feel you can fill?
MP: Tangible creative, such as what I had created with the NYC menu cards and so forth. Using more fabric, thematic elements for more hands on creativity that results in the clienteles’ WOW factor.
LA-S: What’s the next big thing in your market segment?
MP: I feel the tangible creative. Sassi, Inc. has gotten much praise for the creativity and I think it will be up and coming for many patrons. Whether its sustainable environmentally conscious individuals into stone recycled paper and burlap to patrons requesting shimmery paper and Swarovski Crystals- Sassi, Inc. is all about our Clientele.
LA-S: What would you like people to know about you and your work?
MP: I am 150% passionate about what I do from Sassi Concepts & Designs, Inc.’s Advertising to the launch of this past years successful ‘Yours By Design’ custom invitations & stationery.
La-S In a perfect world, where would you be right now?
MP: Right on top of my business with my husband Rob, son Bryson and our 2 labs right beside us. After all, they stood by me from the beginning! (Overlooking Malibu California from our second home there, laughing)
