Having your skin glow with healthy radiance isn’t the easiest thing to achieve– and given that I have tried so much skincare in the last year– one would have to wonder how I have managed to keep my skin under control (a couple of facials helped– thank you Sharon Shelton!!) as well as some awesome skincare.
I have been exposed to some of the most cutting edge, amazingly great skincare this year: both in the cosmeceutical and organic/natural categories. I keep switching back and forth so here are some snippets about lines that really have done something amazing for me this year. I do some significant test-driving of lines to make sure they are everything that I would want in a skincare line as well as have other people test drive them too.
Here’s my list of brands you might want to try.
Lexli is an aloe-based skincare line that really is something different without a huge price tag or a multitude of products. I spoke to brand ambassador Jessica O’Dair at great length about the essence of this line and what sets it apart is that it’s based on aloe– for superior hydration which is an issue for people of all ages. (really! If you have acne, your treatment leaves your skin dehydrated, hence more oily skin). This line is a blend of holistic ingredients with an effective high-tech approach to the delivery system.
Starter kit— $80.00 lasts 30 days.
The Lexli System is simple and easy with five products:
Cleanse: Safely and gently unclog pores and remove impurities. (cleanser)
Exfoliate: removing dead skin cells promotes new collagen and makes skin glow. .(glycolic + Vit C)
Moisturize: help skin retain moisture and soothe skin during exfoliation. (Moisturizer, a Toner/Balance that has lots of moisturizing ingredients)
Protect sun protection from UVA and UVB rays.( moisturizer + sunblock)
The easiest way to test out the effectiveness of this line is test drive that starter kit. The Acne Starter Kit is less money but even $80 isn’t bad for a month’s worth of product and it allows you to be generous in application.
The Aloe-based Cleanser rocks because it removes even the most stubborn makeup and I love it!!
The Day Moisturizer is lovely as a base. The Aloe-Based AloeGlyC is a good exfoliator and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin (and it didn’t make me red at all) and you can top it off with the Aloe-Based Night Moisturizer to seal in moisturizer and it’s nice by itself. It’s not heavy and thick.
I liked the Toner/Balance because I could use it to set my makeup after I was done and take it on the run to hydrate during the day without messing up my makeup. Love that portability.
A product I haven’t tried but would love to test out is the Lightening Lift ($73.00) that will help lighten spots, diminiish fine lines, as well as give you an immediate “tightening and lift” that you would want for special occasions. It’s generously sized for the price and well worth testing out. The ingredients look amazing.
I totalled up the regular prices for full size products and realized that I could get all 6 products — which would last at least 6 months (depending on usage) for less than $500 dollar including the lightening lift! Prana is an organic, holistic and natural line that has some amazing ingredients and is very effective. If you are looking for a line that’s got a unique presentation this is one to be test-driving. Key to the brand’s philosophy and manufacture is that they are using products that are organically farmed; naturally stabilized anti-oxidants; ingredients that are easily absorbed; using natural plant extracts, pigments and aromatics; free of synthetics, parabens, harsh lathering agents (SLS) and no animal testing.
I have used this Pumpkin Scrub and I would tell you that a little goes a long way. First massage it gently into the skin and allow it to dry a bit. Hope in the shower or rinse off and make sure to clean your face entirely of the scrub. Your skin will be smooth, soft and glowing. Don’t forget to use moisturizer and also SPF afterwards!!!
Don’t under-estimate the power of natural and organic products. Their potency has been tested over the centuries and this line is one that I would suggest using a less is more approach
