Rules of Todd # 3: Explanation of Natural Law.

Natural law # 3
The concept of natural law is the base core rules that govern what you are looking at (as seen in high school physics). As funny as that sounds, it’s strangely very true. Newtonian physics is about boiling down what is observed in the physical world to a set of rules and formulas.
Example: Newton’s laws of motion. What most people miss is that high school physics is just the beginning of understanding things in that way.
If you actually take the idea behind Newton’s thinking and run with it, you start to see other patterns or situations jump out at you –not just in the physical world. Once you start to understand what is driving the patterns, then you come up with ideas with why those things could/would or might work that way.
At this point you are only guessing what would cause which ” A” leads to that “B” causes the “C” we are looking at. If you do this long enough, you will see larger patterns emerge that hold up at all levels. These are your natural laws. The details may change, the patterns don’t.
The beauty of the natural law approach to everything is that start with a completely open mind to what’s going on. Abandon your own personal perspective for a moment and look at every point of view of everyone involved in the situation. This will allow you to see the larger perspective of the situation you are dealing with.
Why this is a strength is that it allows you to learn from and get along with just about anyone. You can skip the religion and politics, it doesn’t really matter. If you are looking at the bigger picture, natural laws are what are driving everything including those things.
When talking about natural laws, gravity is often used as my example. My reason for this is that everyone can relate to gravity. Look at it this way, if you are on an airplane and it’s falling out of the sky, not believing in gravity isn’t going to stop the plane from crashing.
Most people approach natural laws like that–arguing all the way to impact.
There are two major upsides to this approach. One, given sufficient time, you will never be surprised by what somebody does next.
Second, there is always a new law to learn so you aren’t bored.
The only downside is that it’s always the same show with the same ending. Going back to religion, it when taking the “natural law” perspective, what is the underlying driving what Buddhism and Christianity (for example) are telling you to do. One has the 8-fold path of Buddha; the other has the Ten Commandments. Both of these are telling you to do the same thing in different formats. One is telling you 8 things you should do; the other is telling you 10 things that are never a good idea.(think of them as a list of things that always turn out badly – should you not follow them) . The idea behind both are to have a happy, healthy, well-rounded and well-balanced life that thinks about something more than just yourself. Ironically, it’s requires selflessness to get the rest of that laundry list. To me, the message is the same. Why bother arguing it? Contrary to popular misconception, in principal, Islam agrees too with these same things. The thing I can’t figure out is why some of these people think that God needs them and an RPG (rocket-propelled grenade). To finish it off, the God that set up this universe, I am pretty sure still has earthquakes, tidal waves and tornadoes up his sleeve. I hope he doesn’t need my help, because I am sure I would mess this up.
Explanation of Todd:
Todd is a real guy who has multiple combat tours with the US military (That isn’t being redundant. It’s being precise). He has the privilege of being a long-term direct student of leaders of two of the oldest martial arts systems being taught. Todd is one of those “all purpose mechanics” where someone is always showing up on his doorstep with a mess or situation that seems to have no solution and Todd helps them find the appropriate (and fitting) resolution. He’s definitely a “go-to” guy for virtually any situation or question. Todd has a solution-based perspective that might not be the way you want it to turn out for *you*, but the one that will give you the best result or ways to apply it to your own situation. In other words, it’s all in the application. So expect to see him regularly.
Thanks to Todd for another RULE!! (He rules….)
