Their latest addition to the Luckyscent.com family is Killian’s Arabian Night Collection. All the text here is pretty much from Luckyscent.com. Their writer did such a great job that I couldn’t begin to compete with these very very deep and fragrance-savvy descriptions. They give you the essence because it takes time — a few days of testing, wearing, breaking down notes to get the heart/essence of a scent.

Kilian Hennessy…if the last name rings a bell, your instinct is right. Kilian is the heir to a long line of French cognac makers which bear his name.
Grandson to the founder of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group, Kilian is looking to make his legacy one of finely crafted perfumes that spare absolutely no expense. With the launch of his first series, Kilian also unveiled exactly what was in his rare blends down to the percentage of each ingredient, and his peers gasped. By Kilian fragrances follow that time-honored tradition of you get what you pay for…go for the best and you’ll never be disappointed.

Arabian Nights Collection
Periods and continents diverge to give birth to this oriental collection. The Arabian Nights collection will be composed of 5 perfumes, 5 olfactive harmonies, all built around essential oils with strong symbolic values from the East: Oud, Rose, Incense, Amber and Musk.
web-pure-oud.jpg
Oud is an extremely rare and precious oil found in agarwood, the resinous heartwood of the aquilaria tree from southeast Asia. The oil itself is dark in coloration and has a complex scent, being warm and woody, yet strongly animalistic at the same time. In many Middle Eastern countries, oud is believed to be worth more than its weight in gold. To echo this belief, the Kilian bottle has a gold plaque engraved with the name of the perfume and the box is decorated with a gold plate on the top.
Each perfume is housed in a stunning satin-lined black lacquer box complete with lock and key. Inside, the thick glass bottle bears an engraved plate and beautifully embossed sides featuring an Achilles shield design. Given the price tag — it’s worth it’s weight in gold and you should treat it as a rare and special gift for someone- even if it’s yourself.

Pure Oud opens with the dark glitter of obsidian, as saffron swirls over a deep animalic growl, then takes us on a long and twisty journey to secret places: a deliciously murky lair filled with mysterious smoke; a hidden chamber redolent with ink, leather and ancient wood. Make no mistake, this is powerful stuff: the ink is extremely inky, the leather is enveloping and rich, the animalic elements are so vivid that you can feel the lion’s breath on your neck– and yet Becker has taken all of these prickly components and spun them into velvet. The end result is so astonishingly smooth and well-blended that you could wear it every day. Oud lovers will adore this, naturally, but this also gets our vote for the oud fragrance most likely to win new converts– not because it is a simplified version, but because it gets all the complications perfectly right. Magical.

Pure Oud Notes
Saffron, Oud Oil, Cypriol, Gaiac Wood, Copahu Balm, Ciste, Myrrhe
Hmmmm can we just call it sex in a bottle? It’s amazing!
web-rose.jpg

A strikingly lovely rose made all the more enticing by a drop of darkness. In the opening the rose is a delicate bud with a bit of green, but on the skin it opens up like a fine wine – rich and luscious with a deep, plummy sweetness.
The oud is definitely present, but it doesn’t feel like a separate entity. It’s as if the rose has been infused with oud – its stem has been placed in the oil and it has translated the mysterious stuff through its petals, transforming itself into a rose of unusual moodiness and intrigue. The senses are teased with veils of smoke, traces of leather, hints of wood – passing shadows that make the luminous bloom glow more intensely by contrast. Created by the very talented Calice Becker, this is lush, feminine and exquisitely beautiful.

Rose Oud Notes: Turkish rose, oud, saffron, cardamom
Perfect for a woman who has the strength and confidence to pull off oud. Ditto for a man who’s not frightened off by a touch of rose that creates a delectable unique scent that will be intoxicating.
