I visit enough salons for hair styling, coloring, conditioning and other types of treatments to get a sense of what each salon is doing. It’s interesting because it sometimes becomes a “salon is a salon is a salon”.. and sometimes makes me feel the same way about facials — though my feelings have changed about facials depending on the type and who’s performing them.
While in a facial spa, it’s easier to use natural ingredients and treatments, going green in a salon environment is never an easy task. The hair industry has dragged its’ feet in changing formulas to make them truly healthier and toxin-free. While they have decreased the toxins and increased the healthy ingredients, it doesn’t mean that they have improved it enough to prevent burning or allergic reactions.

This hair color product is amazing. You saw the video– I have seen people who have had their hair colored with this product line. It’s incredible!
If you are in So. California or thinking about visiting, you might want to think about booking at appointment at Shades salon. It’s worth the time, effort and your hair/body will thank you for it. My hair was incredibly soft and shiny afterwards and the stylist gave me tips on what to do to destress so that my hair will grow faster. *(scalp massage).. Also I purchased the scalp oil and the hair conditioning oil too as part of the regimen to get my hair looking fabulous– and it looks remarkably better already!
Other treatments like the mani-pedicure situation are awesome. 3 weeks later and my pedicure is still intact! That’s only happened with one other salon in So. Cal. So this is a place to bookmark on your favorites or list of places to go!
