Get Moving! Workout Videos to Help You Get Energized, Lose Weight, De-Stress & Relax! DVDS for All Levels!

It’s getting close to summer and swimsuits abound in the stores. Before you hazard that dressing room to try on a few, why not get into the groove of some fitness work to get your body and mind into a work-out mode. It’s not hard to do and many workouts are available on DVD to do at home or even at work– in as little as six minutes or short segments that can be done sitting in your chair– really!

This is do-able thanks to a proliferation of instructors and fitness experts who understand that people – both men and women– have a limited time to get fitness added into the equation of their busy lives.

For those who have problems with neck and shoulder tightness or pain, you might want to check out the catalog of DVD workouts with Desiree Rumbaugh who’s Yoga to the Rescue series (and other DVDS) will help you out of a pinch– literally!

This is the Yoga to the Rescue for  Back, Neck and Shoulders

Tried this one and while I am nowhere as flexible as Desiree (duh.. she makes me jealous in this video clip), I can see how continuing to strive to achieve this her poses would loosen me up and I know that I did feel some loosening of the shoulders and neck, particularly when I had been sitting too long. The tutorial section is 30 mins; the actual workout is another 30 minutes. She’s awesome. The first 30 minutes really teaches you to slowly how to get the position right — and you feel it!

Aching neck, back, shoulders, wrists, or feet? Anasura yoga instructor Desirée Rumbaugh can help you heal yourself with her therapeutic practices. Each is approx. 60 min. on 1 DVD. Reduce stress, relieve fatigue, and release tension in the upper body with postures that target the neck and shoulder muscles.

If you work at a desk– you definitely need this one!!
Yoga to the Rescue: Neck & Shoulders $15 MSRP.

If you want a more  directed de-stressing, stretching, and even pain-relieving work, you might want to check out Moccasin Guru’s  How to Use a Foam Roller  article. It’s lengthy but the tips and tricks he talks about regarding foam rollers are very helpful in giving you some pain relief or at least relaxation.

Body by Bethenny: Bethenny Frankel ‘s body-sculpting workout is about sculpting your body and revving your heart rate to get the best body you ever had. Frankel is best known for her books, “Naturally Thin,” and “The Skinnygirl Dish” as well as her appearance on Real Housewives of New York. While the title is about Frankel, a real fitness pro, celebrity instructor Kristin McGee— is on board to teach you the moves and give you the cueing– this is typical of “celebrity-based” exercise workouts– so it’s not a surprise at all. Mixing a blend of yoga, pilates, and some glute work, you get a fairly balanced workout but you do need some weights and a mat.

What I like about this workout is that it’s about being healthy– not so much about being the thinnest person in the room. Smart, savvy, she knows what she talks about and Kristin underscores that too. Anyone can do this workout– work at your own pace and if you can only do 10 minutes, start with that 10 minutes.
Considering I work out a lot every day (morning and night — with pilates and stretching, some cardio and weights as well as walking), I am pretty fit and this wasn’t a hard workout but because it was different from what I typically do, I did feel it the next morning!!

You can buy it here: Amazon.com for under $15.00.

Tracey Mallett got my attention with her 6-minute Quick Blast Method which are available here.
Yes, that’s right, workouts that are only 6 minutes long so that you can squeeze in at least 3 of them during the day: morning, waiting for dinner to cook, and before bed or any other 6-minute block of time that you can find. Trust me you can find 6 minutes!!
Also there are other Mallett videos that are slightly shorter (4 Minutes!! see below!) or less than 10 minutes from Tracey. She has an amazing list of videos that you can do in sections.

The Total Body Calorie Blast is just that– and will see changes in your body the more you can fit in 6 minute cardio “quick blast” segments. They aren’t hard– but the import of the precision positioning is critical.. so watch each segment at least once before doing it completely. This video can show you a pilates variation so you are working the abs and Tracey has one person doing an easier modification which is good for beginners because this ab work is harder than you think and it does require precision in doing it. Watch carefully, pay attention to your form and go slowly. Rewind and repeat if necessary and it will pay off big time!

You will need a mat and weights in this DVD. The Total Body Fat Burner requires the same plus a stability ball. So be aware of what you need. Tracey’s infectious enthusiam might be a bit much at 6 AM but it’s definitely welcome in the afternoon or early evening because her workouts in some segments will stretch you out and make some muscles loosen up while you work others too.
I found that I could squeeze in 2 of her segments and one of another workout plus a WII Fit Plus and a walk in the morning as well as my usual stretches and feel good.!!

The other DVD ,Total Body Fat Burner is perfect for working abs, arms and butt to get you leaner and more toned. After all, we want to look good in that bathing suit. I did this one more because I was doing a lot of pilates based work and I wanted to increase the cardio-factor and this one does! You can mix and match your segments and you can customize your workout once you figure them out. make sure watch every DVD workout from beginning to end to figure out what they are like and match it to your fitness level.

Tracey Mallet’s website TraceyMallett.com has a ton of information and if you need more incentive or like to work from books, she has that too With her Sexy in 6 , a book of encouragement, demonstrations, and workouts for you to do. She also has videos and books for pregnant and post-pregnancy as well so you can stay fit and make getting back into shape easier. These workouts were more challenging because Tracey packs a lot into those 6-minute segments!!
There are at least 4 more workouts to cover and maybe a few more after that– including yoga, Pilates-based workouts and cardio workouts for beginners. Stay tuned, get toned, and get fit — in a hurry too.
