One of my “bestest” friends in the whole world, Lark Lennox, has had me visit her enough times that there is now “Stevie’s” room in the house. Even the cats recognize me. I have gotten so comfortable that I ship stuff to Lark to review, test drive and generally sharing is a good thing to do and she has a different sort of skin type than I have. We shop, we eat, we drive around, we have wine, we have pedicures– it’s all good. This last time, I was there in October to see the Fall color, I took my Clarisonic with me– something I didn’t do in July when I was there for what seemed like a month (I wish!) but wasn’t. I wanted to make sure that given the change in temperature and the humidity, my skin didn’t take a beating . Lark was very interested in my uber-chic Clarisonic (and the Opal as well).
She sent me a piece to run because she has become so enamoured with this product– well you will have to read it and find out!
When my fashionista friend, Stevie, comes to visit, it’s like the City Mouse visiting the Country Mouse. She brings clothes, accessories, products and a savvy west coast attitude to the laid-back Finger Lakes region of Central New York.
On her last visit, she also brought a Clarisonic “skin cleansing system”. In spite of airline limitations on luggage, she refused to go without her Clarisonic for even a week.
I was intrigued and, after her raves, I ordered one to use on my middle-aged, combination skin. In spite of a cabinet full of “spf burkah” products, I get too much sun on parts of my face, causing brown patches (melasma or hyper-pigmentation). [Lark, it’s hyper-pigmentation AKA sun damage] On top of that, many of my sunscreens make me break out.
In an effort to thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate, I use scrubs and washcloths, sometimes abusing my skin without really solving its issues.
The Clarisonic seems to be a perfect solution. It was developed by the same people who created the Sonicare toothbrushes I’ve been using for years, so I figured the Clarisonic was more than just a gimmick.
I love it! I use it in the shower, letting it run through several of its timed one-minute cycles. (My water and electric bills will undoubtedly go up, but it’ll be worth it.) I use Cerave liquid cleanser to wash my face. In dryer weather, I get flaky patches next to my mouth, so sometimes I’ll follow up with a few drops of vitamin E oil on the brush, allowing me to exfoliate and moisturize at the same time.
I ordered two more of the Clarisonic Classic models to give to my children. I’m sure they’ll love it, too.
Thanks to my friend, Stevie, and the folks at Clarisonic, my skin is smoother and softer than it’s been in years.
I’d love to try out their Opal Sonic Infusion System one of these days, too, when it’s in my budget—or when the kind people at Clarisonic want me to take it for a test-drive (hint, hint).

Not only does Lark love this thing for herself, she has picked up a couple for gifts for the holidays. Not naming names here, so I won’t be a spoiler and I won’t want her getting upset with me. Just to let you know that GUYS can have one of these too and they come in fashionable & manly grey. (hint hint for any of you -ahem- manly men who might be reading this.) It’s really a great product for guys too and would be an all in one “wonder” gadget and would soften up the beard pre-shave.

It’s not hard to share the “love” when the product does so much and it’s really economical over the long run. My skin looks better, it takes the skincare better. It rocks. Did you see the Lark Lennox post about it too?
