P. & J. Granita–
This non-alcoholic beverage features a combination of milk, peanut butter, raspberries and lemon juice. Blend with ice and pour over individual glasses with a salted rim for a deliciously frosty drink guests of all ages will enjoy.
Ingredients:

1 quart milk
4 tbsp creamy peanut butter
1 pack raspberries
½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ cup simple syrup
Ice
Salt to rim glass

Directions:
Add all ingredients to blender with ice. Blend thoroughly for 20 seconds and pour into individual glasses with a salted rim.

Want a more adult version of this beverage, try a strawberry or any berry flavored vodka or you might want to add in some Bacardi Torched Cherry Rum to provide a little sizzle!

Frothy Vanillanog (serves 8)

Ingredients:
1 quart milk
8 egg whites
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
Cinnamon powder to taste
Spicy chile powder to taste

Directions:
Whisk thoroughly in a punch bowl until all ingredients are thoroughly integrated. Spike with an alcoholic elixir if so desired, add ice and dust with a blend of cinnamon and spicy chile powder.
Obviously if you want to add a spirit to this, whiskey is tradtional. However I say push this limit and take some spiced rum (Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum perhaps) or a great reposado tequila ( Corzo is awesome and there are many other brands too)

Cinnamon Sake Horchata(serves 8)
Ingredients:
1 quart milk
1 ½ cups Nigori Sake
½ cup homemade cinnamon syrup*
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1 tbsp almond extract
Cinnamon powder to taste

Directions:
Whisk thoroughly in a punch bowl until all of the ingredients are thoroughly integrated. Add ice, dust with cinnamon and serve.
Spirit of choice with this is up to you. The sake works because it’s pretty neutral in taste and allows you to have a bit more cinnamon spice. However one could use a silver tequila or really good rum (Cruzan spiced rum or the new Kauai-based Koloa spiced rum to make taste a bit different.

*Homemade Cinnamon Syrup
Ingredients:
6 large cinnamon sticks
8 cups water
6 cups white sugar

Directions:
Slowly bring water and cinnamon sticks to boil, then let simmer for 30 minutes. Add sugar, turn heat up and boil sugar syrup. Stir thoroughly, remove from heat and chill overnight. Strain, then bottle for use.

Breakfast Gimlet
(serves8)

Ingredients:1 quart milk
1 ½ cups gin
¾ cup simple syrup
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice

Directions:
Whisk thoroughly in a punch bowl until all of the ingredients are thoroughly integrated. Add ice and serve.

Caribbean Milk Punch(serves 8)
Ingredients:
1 quart of milk
1 cup of spiced rum ( Cruzan, Captain Morgan, even a Reposado Tequila maybe)
¾ cup agave syrup
Cinnamon powder to taste
Nutmeg powder to taste

Directions:
Whisk thoroughly in a punch bowl until all of the ingredients are thoroughly integrated. Add ice, dust either with cinnamon or nutmeg powder and serve.

You can see there’s a lot of creativity that goes into this. Change up a couple of ingredients in each recipe and the drinks change a great deal. It allows both kids and adults to have slightly different versions of the same drink!

Merry Christmas– and please drink responsibly.
