Vacation Travel: My Favorite Things to Pack!

Packing for me is a NIGHTMARE!! I want to take a lot of stuff depending on where it is I am going. If I am going somewhere like Kauai (last year) or upstate New York (the last 3 years in a row), I need swimwear (x 3– why 3? I don’t know why 3. It just sounds like a good number and each has less coverage than the one before.)

This year, I had a Voda Swimsuit (the tiniest one), a Vitamin A swimsuit and one I bought in Kauai last year that’s a pink and brown print.

Shorts are de riguere and I took 3 pairs of shorts– one from Old Navy and 2 from the Gap. Shirts, tanks and floaty racerbacks were from a variety of places including Forever 21, Gap, Walmart, Target, J.Crew, some sample sales of high end brands along with Old Navy.

I did have a lot more clothing and shoes but because of what I was buying, I shipped 3 boxes of stuff home to make sure that I could pack what I needed to keep and send home the wrong things I had packed. July is typically warm in the upstate NY area but not 100 degrees– so jeans and heavier items went home FAST!!

My biggest quandary is often skincare, hair care and makeup.

Skincare was pretty easy:

The Juice Beauty Travel Pack!! I LOVE this line! It’s easy to use and I love the way it makes my skin so clean and clear.

Not only did I have the kit, but I had purchased full size products of the moisturizer, the Green Apple Age Defy Serum , and Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer— and the peel. Since I wasn’t using the peel everyday, I had enough in the kit. However with the last 3 items, I was at the last of the jars and planning to reorder so I could dump these containers and fly home a bit lighter.

I always take an array of sunblocks– but my favorite is Colorescience since it’s usually a powder and I can dust it on. I also used the new Neutrogena SPF 100 for face with Heliotrope. It works well but I still got color through the SPF 100 and despite LAYERS of sunblock and foundation.

Cosmetics was more fun but also a bit crazier. I tend to go with purples, bronzes, coppers, golds and some wilder, warmer colors. First thing to hit the bag
was the Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation 10 day dram that Darais had recommended to me. I was going to take the Armani but it also was a bit larger (full size bottle) and I wanted to keep things more portable. Also I was able then to bring both more Armani: bronzer, and two gorgeous summer cream to powder shadows, Eyes to Kill Intense!! I had Gold Blitz and Khaki Pulse and they worked great as a sheer slide of color and then out for dinner with a nice brown smudgey liner Covergirl Liquiline Blaster— love this one!! I only took brown because I wanted to go low key. (Pump up the watts with violet or black). It’s so smudgeable and it’s got a great tip.

I also brought the MAC Disney Venomous Villains Mineralize Shadow Duo: Maleficient’s My Dark Magic (shades of raspberry and dark purple). I wore it layered into a gold shimmer base of a blush I swept across the lids. I had the handfull of sample mascaras to work with so I was playing with Sephora, Dior, Smashbox, Tarte and lots of other brands and of course Eyes to Kill from Armani.

Covergirl’s Lipstains went with me and I used themn daily. I even carried them with me. I have other brands but I like the color tints of the CG brand. A great Armani peach lip color that was really hydrating helped a lot.

Also I got to try something new from Beauty For Real collection
I tried their GET GLOWING! CHEEK TINT AND LUMINIZER in the bronze shade– which really worked nicely no matter what I wore and the luminizer– smokes. I had cheekbones and it worked on my eyes as well. The other product I got to try from this line was the Illuminating Lip Gloss in Spark!. It has a mirror plus a light so you can touch up anytime, anywhere. Love the look. Spark is the perfect neutral and I did use it over a too red color to bring it down a touch and to give somme dazzle to the stains. Would recommend “You’re in My Light” and “All Fired UP” as well– though I did not try them. The texures are amazing. So check out this line.

For hair care, I took what I had left from Belegenza (the CLEAN & GREEN hair care line that’s concentrated so an almost empty bottle of shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner lasted me nearly 10 days.) and kept washing and conditioning my hair and every time I did, my hair thanked me by looking so much better. I used a tiny bit of the Coleuer Spray and a bit of argan oil and that was it. The weird thing is that I wasn’t in any photos this year so you have nothing to see of me.

I did have my brown hat and the straw one as well. I took two handbags (why I have NO idea. One got shipped back right away with stuff I didn’t need)
I did use a lot of eye drops and allergy eye drops and made sure I use a ton of sunscreen.
