It wasn’t a typo, it’s MARS retrograde we’re talking about here, not Mercury Retrograde. The planet Mars is the symbol for how we go after things and take action in our lives. It corresponds with aggression and sex drive. I told you this includes your love life.
This happens every two years and about two months, so it isn’t rare. It is valuable, though…
This long journey (almost six months in Vedic Astrology) through Leo and then forward into Virgo is making itself known in lots of ways I find fascinating. Interestingly enough, it’s our head line that travels through the Mars region on our hands and reflects our Martial impulses in our mind
Science has determined one of the primary reasons we have those neural regions in our brain (and thus our hands) is to animate us, activate us and give thoughts or feelings a physical expression.
Now with Mars Retrograde and opposite the Sun – which means this dense planet earth is between the Sun and our action impulses we call Mars – it tends to bring ‘busy’ to a halt. Or at least slows it down to a crawl, frustrating a fair number of people.
The message is that rather than continuing on the path of doing, doing, doing, this is a time of reflecting. It gives us a pause to re-evaluate and update our activities, what we have been pursuing, who we have been pursuing and revisit those choices. Some people, particularly you curved head and heart lines, may benefit from thinking less and trusting your gut instinct more.
Now the straight head and heart lines, for you this is a good time to breathe, detach from the results that are so important for you long enough to see if the choices you made when you began doing whatever your doing still ring true for you. A pause will help you, whereas the curved lines benefit more from stepping in a direction without over thinking it.
When it comes to your love life, don’t be surprised if some of the zip is unzipped. Don’t panic or judge too quickly. It is merely an opportunity to take in everything else besides the sexual pull. The bigger picture on your relationship can actually add to the zip when Mercury kicks back into forward motion.
After all chemistry is there as nature’s glue to get us together. It’s one of the best things going, but it can also complicate matters when the chemistry is the driving force in a relationship. The nature of the emotion or impulse is that it can take front and center stage if you let it rule.
This slow down is a great time to evaluate (if you are a straight line person) or see clearly where you have yet to take the next step if you are a curved line person.
Right now is a time for awareness of what does not fit or feel right in our worlds. This is important information to notice and clear away what no longer serves. The hard part about this is letting go of what doesn’t fit when it’s wrapped up in a relationship you’ve been attached to for any number of reasons.
People have been sharing with me how the friendships, partnerships and romances they’ve been in are showing them the gaps they can no longer ignore. This doesn’t necessarily mean the end of your relationship, although it might. More importantly, it’s the end of the WAY you have done what you’ve done in the relationship. This is a time of change and it brings more space, more life, more opportunity when we are not blindly attached to the way we have done things in the past.
In other words, for many, it isn’t about letting go of the relationship, it’s letting go of how you’ve been in relationships. Then let the relationship take its own path forward, trust what you are creating in a new way.
