It’s Getting Juicey Around Here! Paleta Juice Detox: Organic, Tasty and It Works!!
I have talked about Paleta before– many times. I am so impressed with the food that when I was told that they had a new juice line, I knew it would be fabulous. However I was thinking of it as an addition to the food or as snacks or instead of soda, tea or coffee. Detox was an entirely different matter. I had a chance to talk to Chef Kelly Boyer and also her staff when they offered me a free one day detox regimen. I had been hesitant simply because I was concerned about taste. However I had talked with a couple of other people who had done the detox for a few days and they loved it!
I was less sketchy at that point and thought about just jumping in. The hard part is choosing flavors. For those on twitter, Chef Kelly and I were exchanging tweets on what flavors to try and a couple other people chimed in. Given that there ae a lot of flavors and I was to choose just FIVE plus one milk shake, it was hard. But with the flavors Kelly had suggested for me, plus more from friends who had done this, I finally came up with five!
KALE KOOLER | METABOLIZE + DIGEST
kale, pineapple, jicama, lime, serrano, cilantro
surprisingly good. I had this first thing in the morning. It was a toss-up between the carrot and this. I thought this was going to be hard. WRONG! I should have started with carrot first because this was light, bright and had a serious zing. LOVED IT!
APPLE ORCHARD | REFRESH + SOOTHE
granny smith, honeycrisp, lemon, ginger
RED ROOT | DETOX + NOURISH
beet, carrot, apple, lemon, ginger
This was one of the scary ones. I wasn’t a huge fan of beets: I like them roasted– not in a liquid format. However this was amazingly tasty and it had texture to it so it was filling. GREAT choice!
COCO COLADA | RESTORE + HYDRATE
coconut, pineapple, lime
Light, bright, fun and much like a cocktail without the alcohol. It rocked. Great for end of day sort of things when you want light and refreshing!
CARROT COCKTAIL | PURIFY + BALANCE
carrot, yam, turmeric, ginger, lemon
This is one I saved for last– big mistake because it was a bit heavier than I anticipated and at the end of the day I was FULL and didn’t want to drink it all- particularly since I had prickly pear before it. Should have reversed it. It was great the next day (what was left) and I really felt it would have sustained me earlier in the day– like around lunch!
PRICKLY PEAR | ENERGIZE + CLEANSE

What a great blend of this one. I had never had cactus or prickly pear and it was amazingly good. Very impressive– it’s got texture plus bright flavor and it was tasty!
MAGIC MILKSHAKE | SATISFY + ENERGIZE
cashew, almond, coconut, date, vanilla bean, cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt

My choice: chocolate hazelnut! This was my lunch. Should have put carrot in here and had this for dinner because it was YUMMY and chocolate and nutty — just really really good!
As with the food plan I had tried with Paleta – both the detox and the regular food plan, this was more than I could consume in one day– so I had some left over for the next day. It felt good, tasted good and I almost wished I had another day to do a detox. I felt more alert. I did drop a couple pounds in the process- but that was not the point.
The cold pressed juices are really really good. They do need refrigeration– this is not to be left on your desk. I love the concept and the bottles are adorable– as in I wanted to keep them all. I did return them after I ran them through the dishwasher into the Paleta bag they had used to drop the detox to me.
