Sass Ashe Explores Holiday Manicures Made Easy– and FAST!

Finding the time or an open appointment to get your nails done during the holiday season may be a bit like Mission Impossible. But luckily there are several quick, easy and convenient options to choose from so that you can do your own dazzling holiday manicure.

You can purchase acrylics kits at your local drugstore but the idea of quick and easy flies right out the window with that. If you want convenience you will want to skip the powder and excessive filing. Besides unless you’re a pro you’ll probably end up with lumpy nails like I do when I attempt to do acrylics at home.

If you want a little extra length for the holidays as well as a fancy design you will want to look in the same local drugstore and find glue on or stick on nails. Many of these are already colored and some even have jewels and designs. All you have to do is pick your favorite, take them home, glue them on  or use the handy self stick type and voila! instant holiday manicure! These are my go-to products for quick manicures- Broadway Nails and Kiss Nails.

I recently found out about a great way to decorate both natural and artificial nails for the holidays called Jamberry Nail Shields. There are around 250 different designs to choose from. At first I was confused about these items wondering if they were decorated nails or just the color so I asked Cindi Starr, a Jamberry Nails representative to tell me more about them. She was happy to explain:

“They are vinyl stickers that are applied to the nail. They are heat activated by either a blow dryer or rice bags, prior to putting them on the nail and after application to seal them. They don’t have the harmful chemicals that polish does, and they last about two weeks on fingernails, longer on toe nails. For each sheet, you can apply approximately 2-3 full sets of nails depending on the length of your nails.”

Cindi even provided me with a youtube video so that I would fully understand how Jamberry Nail Shields work.

Jamberry is now on my holiday wish list!

When you just want a simple elegant manicure opt for a french manicure or a holiday red polish to make even your natural nails look beautiful and stand out. No matter how tight time is this holiday season make an effort to fit in a quick and easy holiday manicure to really pull your look together!

Other brands include Dashing Diva, Sally Hansen, Opi and visit your local mass market store (Target, KMart) or major drugstore for tons of choices.

  1. What a great idea! I love doing my nails but hate the chips that magically appear in the polish within minutes of getting them done. Will have to keep an eye out for these and try them out.
