Traveling Over the Holidays? Sass Ashe Shares Holiday Travel Packing Tips!

Packing for holiday travel can be a bit overwhelming. You’ll want both comfortable clothing as well as more formal ensembles for parties and events, then of course there’s all the makeup and hair styling tools you’ll need to look your best. Just a simple holiday trip may make you feel like you should pack your entire beauty arsenal as well as half your wardrobe. Luckily there are ways around this. With a few tips and tricks you can pack everything you’ll need for holiday travel in one suitcase and one makeup bag! Of course if you’re going to be receiving gifts you may need another bag for the return trip!

Lingerie Bag

While a lingerie bag is great for laundering your “unmentionables” it also makes a great space saving way to pack them too. Bed, Bath & Beyond has a simple lingerie bag for less than $5!  Everything from bras and panties to stockings and Spanx will get to your destination safely and in a nice compact manner. In the event that your luggage gets opened you also won’t have to worry about the inspectors checking out your sexy holiday underwear either!

Clothing Tips

Pack mix and match pants and tops for casual comfort. If you can wear one nice pair of black slacks with 3 or 4 tops then you’ve cut down on your packing immensely. Avoid bulky sweaters and select thinner items that you can layer for warmth. This will save room for your footwear and evening wear. While you may think that folding your clothing saves space, the best way to maximize the space in your luggage is to roll each item and tuck them in close and tight.

Footwear

Boots and heels can be bulky and hard to pack. Keep in mind that one great pair of dress shoes will work with nearly everything you’ve packed, so all you’ll need are some comfy casual shoes  to be able to go from day to night, casual to dressy throughout your trip.

Electronics

With so many aspects of our lives relying on electronics it’s important that you have an electronics bag for chargers and devices. Besides keeping everything in one place the best bags will protect your electronics from weather and moisture. Lavod bags are ideal for packing your gadgets and keeping them safe on holiday travel, but another less expensive tip is to store all of your gadgets and chargers in a gallon size ziplock bag.

Beauty

So, we all know that we need our lotions and potions, perfume, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and styling products. How can we go about packing these items without having to tote a Hefty bag around filled with beauty items? Simple! Pack your beauty bag with travel sized items. You can purchase refillable travel bottles and cases at any drugstore for just a few dollars; most of the time these also come in a nice waterproof travel bag that will fit inside your beauty bag. This is ideal if bottles spill, the outer bag will protect the rest of your items. Cosmetics should be stored in a travel size makeup bag that will fit right in there with your other beauty needs and your hair styling tools. When it comes to styling tools the best thing I’ve every found to save space is a blow drying curling iron! I use my Conair Hot Air Curling Combo  every day! It dries, smooths, curls and styles in minutes. No need to carry a bulky blowdryer, flatiron and curling iron!

Packing for holiday travel may be the source of a great deal of your holiday stress, but when you break it all down and look at it reasonably you’ll find that you really don’t need a separate outfit for each day of your trip and you don’t need to pack every pair of shoes you own. Plan outfits for your trip and the events that you’ll be attending and pack accordingly.
