Secrets of the Red Carpet: Cool New Mineral Makeup Products for Your Beauty Kit!

Two mineral makeup lines have come across my desk that are pretty impressive.

Mineral foundations

Are we being fooled into thinking this trend is effort-free or can a little hint of makeup do the trick? Advanced Mineral Makeup’s Liquid Mineral Foundation is a 100% natural mineral foundation that will help you achieve natural looking makeup and get the perfect complexion. Used on the set of NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy due to its lightweight, camera-friendly components, this foundation does not contain talc, perfumes, parabens, dyes or preservatives, making it healthy for the skin and ideal for those who suffer from hyperpigmentation, acne, rosacea, and sensitivity.

Head Makeup Artist for Grey’s Anatomy, Sharon, asserts, “The products are very natural looking and so easy to use. I really like the coverage and being able to layer, if needed, without heavy buildup.” Joe Hailey, the Industry Leading Makeup on NCIS, praises the line for being “natural looking,” which is “important for us using high-definition cameras and actresses who have very sensitive skin.”

No perfume or FD & C dyes are used in our bases offering a minimum allergy risk.

This makeup is antibacterial.
Only the finest high quality ingredients are used in the manufacturing of our cosmetics.

I was given a sample of this product. I liked the texture, I like how it applied. However I disagree with Mayo’s concept of a non-yellow foundation. The shade I received-Creme Brulee-was dramatically too light. I found the Ginger Snap a bit too orange and Praline was too dark I do believe for those with olive & yellow tones, there should either be another shade in between these three tones. That’s my take. I thought my skin felt lovely; light and fresh with a not powdery or pasty look. There is no residue or drag when applied. It’s a lovely product. I just wish I had a color that actually suited me and didn’t make me look so off-tone.

Shadows:

Mirabella Beauty launched a cool collection and I managed to snag a palette of these amazing shadows that were launched for holiday 2012. This Shady Lady palette has 3 colors: a teal meets emerald green, a deep violet meets purple but muted, and a golden beige that looks very sheer and illuminates well– all with a velvety texture that looks like silk. The pigment payoff is there– not too much work in tapping off and the shimmer and shine that you get isn’t overdone. It lasts pretty well and if you use them wet, oh-la-la.. very very nice presentation for a smokey eye.
Worth the $40 which is a pittance and it fits well into a bag for touchups too.

  1. I love mineral makeup – I found they were the only products that had any staying power when I lived in the humid climates of the Caribbean.
