This topic might sound funny. What is facial deflation? It’s what happens as you get older and your lose more fat content in your face from being aging and even earlier if you yo-yo diet or are working out too much or might be obsessed about watching your weight. Courtesy of top plastic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel of Boston, Mass, we have some great tips. This is particularly relevant now that Golden Globes are over and heading into Grammys, Oscars and more– there’s a lot of celebrities who have been up to (or beyond) their eyeballs in getting injectables, peels and other topical treatments!
1. Your face deflates with time.
Inflate to fight deflation. Add volume to cheeks, temples, and other facial fat pockets that have shrunk.
2. 2013 will be the year of the “Cheek Implant” –
2012 was the Chin – 2013 will be the Cheek! Aging and ever changing facial bones play a major role in aged appearance and while chin implants were a hot ticket in 2012, watch for other types of facial skeletal augmentation including cheek implants to increase in popularity for 2013 as more people realize how easy and effective they are at improving your appearance.
3. Stimulate yourself.
“Biostimulators” are HOT – these fillers stimulate your body to produce more collagen and to aid in “healing itself.” Sculptra and Radiesse are two of these materials. They give long lasting natural results. Watch for expanded use of biostimulator fillers in 2013 and beyond.
4. Doctors will get more Dull, not Sharp!
The sharp needles for fillers cause a painful sting and small areas of bleeding. For 2013, watch for more and more facial plastic surgeons to use blunt tip applicators. The filler is still injected, but the needle is now replaced with a soft tipped flexible microtube that reduces pain, reduces bruising and helps your doctor to put the filler just where it belongs.
5. Snake oil fights wrinkles?!
Not really! But it doesn’t stop people from believing every false “wives tale” out there. Make 2013 the year that you take advantage of the resources around you and get some professional advice! All you have to lose is years off your face..
