Getting Framed with Joey Healy | Finding the Ideal Eyeglasses – Marie from “I Am THE Makeup Junkie Guest” Blog

Marie P from IAmTHEMakeupJunkie Blog is here to share some great tips. When you look back at how many eyewear posts I have done and how many more are to come– well it’s going to be pretty busy here. So you need to read this!! It’s a great way to figure out the shape and coloring for glasses & brows.

Below you’ll find some tips from Joey Healy, celebrity eyebrow stylist, on picking the right eyeglass frames to complement your brows.
“It’s very important to pick glasses based on your eyebrows—you never want to alter your eyebrows to make a pair of glasses work,” Joey says. “Another one of the most important points to remember is that your eyeglasses should NEVER fully cover your eyebrows.”

Focusing On Your Face Shape

For those with thin, light eyebrows, eyeglasses with a rimless bottom work best. The top rim puts emphasis at the brow bone level and can almost serve as a faux brow.

Conversely, for those with thick, groomed eyebrows, completely rimless glasses look best because they help showcase strong features and not weigh down the eye.

Straight brows do best when complemented by softened rectangular lenses. This look is best to mimic the shape but with gentler lines to balance the severity. Rounder lenses also help balance a wider forehead which is often the case with straighter eyebrows.

With highly arched eyebrows, straighter, narrower frames help anchor the brow and make it lessen the dramatic lift of arched brows.

Curved, rounder eyebrows are complemented by frames with angular boxy edges. This style works best to help strike a balance with the exaggerated curvature of the brow.

If your eyebrows are widely spaced, look for glasses with a narrower nose bridge that’s well defined.

  1. Makes sense, and I had never thought about it.. I do have some trouble deciding on frames..so I appreciate some good guidelines for next time…expecting a more fashionable reading look next year…

  2. I never realized that eyebrows played a part, thought it was all based on the face shape. Will make sure to get my eyebrows down before choosing my next pair. Thanks for the tips
