We got past the craziness of Black Friday and definitely working on the left-overs in the refrigerator. This was supposed to run yesterday but somehow it didn’t launch despite having the date and time correct. So here it is today and while you have to work today, maybe it’s a better choice for having a cocktail after 4 days off in a row!
Here’s a some great recipes for Botran Rum (exquiste rum by the out of Guatemala.) Unlike most other rums, Botran is made from freshly pressed sugar cane.
One of the key distinctions of Botran Rum is that the rum is aged in a range of casks,including former American whiskey, sherry and port barrels. Thus the taste is refined, subtle and gives you a wealth of options for sipping, cocktails and for cooking!
Botran Rum Sour:
1 ½ oz Botran Reserva,
¾ oz fresh squeezed lemon juice,
¾ oz cane sugar simple syrup (or 2 tsp sugar)
3 drops Angostura bitters (optional).
Combine Botran Reserva rum, lemon juice and syrup (or sugar) in the shaker half-filled with ice cubes.
Shake well and strain into a sour glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a Maraschino cherry.
Double Rock Zombie:
1 oz Botran Reserva,
1 oz Botran Solera,
¾ oz Zombie Mix (1/2 oz passion fruit juice and ¼ oz mango juice),
¾ oz orgeat syrup
¾ oz lime juice.
Combine all liquid ingredients in a mixing glass. Shake well and strain liquid over crushed ice. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint.
Reserva Zest:
1 oz Botran Reserva Blanca,
1 bottle cap of vermouth rosso,
½ oz simple syrup,
6 ice cubes
1 ½ oz 7up.
Combine the Reserva Blanca, vermouth rosso, simple syrup and ice cubes in a shaker.
Shake well, strain and serve. Complete with a splash of 7up.
