Ife Mora Blends Diverse Music Styles Creating “Fire Inside of Me” Album! #MusicMoment
Ife Mora had one of those unique families that was immersed in music and has used every element of her history and relationships to create her unique sound that has evolved into a blend of jazz, blues, techno and more! Given that her sound keeps changing, it reflects the changes in her life.
Fire Inside of Me is a killer blend of Sanchez’ powerful vocals and skill for narrative songwriting, anchoring tracks of many different genres through her evocative, heartrending lyrics and unmistakable voice. Her songs travel the country, painting portraits of life in New York, Detroit and other psychic landscapes of America. Ife’s classic, timeless songcraft stands fully on it’s own, but becomes more fascinating when you learn her full story.
This new CD reflects that boundary-breaking creative nature. Drawing from a wide range of influences like Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, P-Funk, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, the album hopscotches and flirts with different genres:
“Hopeful Heart’s” Pretenders-nodding country/rock swagger, the sharp-toothed, folky critique of “American Dream,” the gorgeous, string-laden chamber ballad “Crash & Burn” — but grounded in Ife’s conceptual, confessional lyricism.
The gritty video for “Detroit Blues” is perfectly in tune with the down and dirty nature of the blues song. It shows Ife sweaty in a mechanic shop, while images of abandoned houses and a broken metropolis are streamed across the screen. The video is a very real depiction of the hardships Detroit is facing. However, Ife wants us to get a feeling of hope from all of the beautiful people who are surviving and fighting for the rise of a grand new City.
Ife knew in advance that she wanted to shoot the video for “Detroit Blues” in her hometown because of what the song represented. She says, “Detroit has always been the foundation for my love of music and has given me a very tough skin to be able to survive hardships in life and endure a tough business like the music industry. ‘Detroit Blues’ is all about a woman who can survive anything and look good doing it because of this historical and complex city she is from.”
Ife Mora has moved out of Detroit, beyond NYC to Los Angeles, Definitely a change of environment for her!
