Darais is a friend: not a stranger to this blog, he and I touch base periodically. Luckily I ran into this piece and it gives me a way to jump off into beauty themes for Spring 2014. This is a year of change- in products, textures, color presentations. While Darais says less is more, there are other areas where more is more- often in texture and how you make the look work. Lancôme national makeup artist, Darais says the key for spring: less is more. He visited KCAL9 Studios Saturday and said during this time it’s important for women to pare down, change their skincare, brighten up on colors and even go waterproof.
As the weather gets warmer it can be a good time to lighten up your makeup routine.
Dewy (humid) air may make you prone to turning oily. Darais suggests switching out a heavy foundation for a skin correcting product such as Lancôme Visionnaire.
If you’re using cream shadows and blushes, try switching to powder formulas. The expert likes using Lancôme Dual Finish Powder & Foundation in One, which has all-day wear, good for full-coverage and touch-ups.Spring is the perfect time to try out a bright color.
If you’re bold, try a bright red or orange lipstick or a lipcolor in fuschia as Darais suggested (we found gloss in love in 391 Flash in Fuschia! ! Or even a colorful liquid liner, such as Lancôme Artliner 24H which is available in beautiful blue, green and gold shades.If you’d like to do something a little more subtle, try a bright polish for your nails. Look for waterproof formulas that will stay put if you sweat or if you take a dip in the pool.
Most beauty professionals agree you should always be wearing sunscreen. Try layering it underneath your makeup to combat premature aging. You can find the products Darais mentioned for spring at Lancôme online.
