Laughing Lotus New York is coming to Los Angeles April 5-11, 2014 for a “pop up” week with Laughing Lotus Co-Founder Dana Flynn. Widely recognized throughout the international yoga community as a true “teachers’ teacher” with a raw generous spirit, Flynn brings an ecstatic expression of movement, music and community to her signature Lotus Flow and will be opening the brand’s first Los Angeles location in 2015.

“We’re received countless requests from the LA yoga community over the years, practically begging us to bring Lotus to L.A. because there is nothing like us out there,” says Flynn. “After successfully expanding to San Francisco a few years ago, we decided this pop-up would be a fun pre-launch of sorts before opening Laughing Lotus L.A. next year.”
Dana is going to teach two open 90-minute classes at Yogis Anonymous in Santa Monica that will be live streamed. the first open class is Saturday, April 5, 7PM with DJ Derek Beres; the second class is set for April 6, 10AM (no DJ). The drop-in rate for Yogis Anonymous is $20 per class.
Monday, April 7 kicks off the five-day, 50-hour intensive at The Hub in West L.A. This series includes intimate workshops on the signature Lotus Flow Architecture, Mudras & Mantras, Playful Namaskars, Building the Flow, Sequencing for Beginning & Advanced Asana, Crafting Epic Playlists, Smart and Clear Cueing, among others.
Another teacher to be featured in this intensive will be L.A.’s Kate Duyn Cariati, who fell deeply in love with the practice at Laughing Lotus New York, where she completed her first teacher training in 2004. In 200, Kate Duyn Cariati played a key role in the launch of Laughing Lotus San Francisco before relocating to L.A., where she now has a strong following at Exhale Venice. Kate also live streams her classes at Yogis Anonymous and thus many have taken virtual classes from her internationally. Senior Teacher and Creative Director at Laughing Lotus New York Mary Dana Abbott will round out the teaching team. The 3 women and their unique teaching styles– Dana’s wild dynamic flare that runs through all; Mary Dana’s enthusiasm for alignment; and Kate’s sublime playful physicality- – will provide a truly extraordinary and enriching week to anyone participating in this series.

Laughing Lotus Background
Laughing Lotus New York was founded by Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi on a rooftop in New York City in 1999. Since then, it has gradually blossomed into a 4000 square-foot yogic temple in Chelsea, featuring two asana rooms with nearly 100 classes a week. Laughing Lotus has always been an innovator in teacher training with creative programming that inspires courageous thinking and encourages all yogis and yoginis to explore their inner and outer worlds and teach deeply from their own practice and discoveries.
