Disney PLANES Flies into Theaters. Have Dinner & a Movie at El Capitan!

It’s summer and keeping kids busy and hopefully happy isn’t always easy. Here’s a great opportunity that’s perfect for the younger set to visit Hollywood’s legendary El Capitan Theatre as they present a special engagement of Disney’s “Planes: Fire & Rescue” in realD® 3D and Dolby® AtmosTM July 18 – Aug. 20, 2014.

Each screening will be accompanied by “Summer Beach Party” live on stage, plus the classic 1935 Disney animated short, “Mickey’s Fire Brigade.”

OPTIONAL Special Dinner Reservations including movie tickets!
This might seem a touch pricey but when you factor in that it includes the movie + dinner, tax & tip as well, it’s a BARGAIN. Might not be exactly the exact meal the adult might want but it’s exceptionally kid-friendly which was a big deal when my kid was that age group.

El Capitan guests may book a special package including reserved seating at Miceli’s at 5:15pm that includes choice of pasta entrees, side salad, mini cannoli, and fountain beverage, with tax and gratuity included.
Dinner is followed by reserved seating for the 6:45pm 3D screening of Disney’s “Planes: Fire and Rescue” at The El Capitan Theatre , plus live on stage, an all-new show with Mickey and Friends for $30 per person.
(Dinner and movie tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance of date attending, and seating is limited and subject to availability.)

“The El Capitan is the place to see Disney’s ‘Planes: Fire & Rescue’ this summer with live entertainment and interactive exhibits for the whole family,” said Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. “Not only will guests have the opportunity to see Mickey and Friends live on stage, but they’ll also enjoy a timeless Disney short before every screening. After the film, guests will have the opportunity to try on firefighter gear from Discovery Science Center and make a plane propeller spin from the Planes of Fame Air Museum.”

Daily showtimes are:
10 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and special 9:25 p.m. show times opening weekend (July 18-20) and Friday and Saturday nights following.
Tickets are on sale now, and available at the El Capitan Theatre (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at
www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Special group rates for parties of 20 or more are available by calling 1-818-845-3110. Show times subject to change.

On Saturdays and Sundays, El Capitan guests may also enjoy a character breakfast with Mickey before the 10 a.m. movie. Seating is limited and advance purchase is required with

The El Capitan Theatre will also host a very special 2D “Tiny Tot Tuesday” every Tuesday during the run of “Planes: Fire & Rescue” at 10 a.m. During this special screening, parents and small children may enjoy the movie in a 2D tot-friendly way—complete with lights dimmed rather than out and reduced sound levels.

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new adventure-comedy about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting.
Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.
Directed by Bobs Gannaway (“Secret of the Wings”) and produced by Ferrell Barron (“The Fox and the Hound
2”), “Planes: Fire & Rescue” hits theaters in 3D on July 18, 2014.

Hope you have a chance to see this flick with your family. My kid is beyond this… but I also know that when Disney films that she loves come out on DVD, she always watches them (and I do too!)

  1. Thanks for commenting Dave.. but I am sure you didn’t read this accurately since this is about a new MOVIE that launched here in LA…. from Disney.
It’s not a book. There isn’t even a book available on this movie *YET*!

  2. They are creating an event, not just a movie night, with all the different aspects..kids would probably love to go to this.
