July 24 is National Tequila Day: Recipes for Great Tequila-Based Cocktails!

It’s officially National Tequila Day on July 24.Since July 24 happens to be a Friday, I wanted to give you a heads up on the date so that you are prepared for some sort of celebration. Here are several newer tequilas (new to me at least) that have provided very interesting recipes for cocktails.
Take a chance and step out on the edge of the tequila line and try a couple of new brands! You might find you really like something!

QUI Tequila

2 parts QUI Tequila

¾ part fresh lemon juice

¾ part Maraschino liqueur

¼ part crème de violette

Directions:
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake for 5 seconds and double strain into a coup glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

2 parts Cruz Reposado Tequila

½ part simple syrup

2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

2 dashes Orange bitters

1 slice orange rind

1 slice grapefruit rind

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except rinds with ice and stir for 40 seconds.
Garnish with an orange and grapefruit rind.

For the Manhattan lover: Try the CRUZ Desayuno

Ingredients:

2 parts Cruz Silver Tequila

1 part Dolin Blanc Vermouth

1/2 part Green Chartreuse

1 dash Orange Bitters

Directions:
Stir all ingredients; strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a Grapefruit peel (optional).

Tres Agaves Tequila

Ingredients:
2 parts Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila

1 part Aperol

1 part Tres Agaves Cocktail-Ready Agave Nectar

¾ part fresh-squeezed lemon juice

½ part fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice

1 edible flower, for garnish

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the flower.

For the Tom Collins lover: Try the Tres Crush

½ parts Tres Agaves Reposado Tequila

½ part St. Germain or Thatcher’s Organic Elderflower Liqueur

½ part Tres Agaves Cocktail-Ready Agave Nectar

2 part fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice

½ part fresh-squeezed lime juice

1 part soda water

Grapefruit slice or lime wedge, for garnish

Directions:

Combine all ingredients, except soda water, in a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake vigorously and strain into a tall glass with fresh ice, then add soda water.
Garnish with grapefruit slice or lime wedge.
