As we approach a New Year with all of its promise for beauty and hope, I cannot think of a more fitting designer to feature. Trust me, when you wear Bonnie Strauss to a party, no one will have your look. It will be one-of-a-kind, like Strauss herself. People will want to know exactly where you purchased it and what it is made of.
Bonnie Strauss is a wonderfully eclectic clothing designer that creates ethereal and feminine women’s clothing. She has been designing clothes and accessories for many years. Strauss is originally from New York but lives in LA and has embraced the bohemian, casual chic look beautifully. Strauss is the queen of the effortless, stylish LA Woman. Strauss tapped into a niche that every woman wants ~ authentic, feminine apparel.
For me personally, I adore her designs. When the clothes hug the body yet feel effortless, it is magical. Bonnie Strauss’s line is all hand-dyed, hand-beaded and embroidered. Bonnie Strauss Jewelry is custom-made. As I have studied her more and more, I have truly come to understand the importance of fabrics, texture, color placement, and – most important — vision. In her clothing, you will see tulle skirts, hand-embroidered tops and a touch of shibori.
Luckily I have had the incredible opportunity to see the clothes in person, wear them and meet Bonnie herself. She is an amazing woman with a very sweet soul. Strauss is a creative combination of strength and vulnerability that many wonderful artists inhabit. The clothing takes your breath away when you wear them, you feel like a goddess. She designs apparel for the contemporary woman that you really do not see anymore in the fashion industry. Strauss’s apparel is very light in feel and rich in design. Her clothes are romantic and passionate.
What I respect most about Strauss is that she stays true to who she is. Her goal is for her customer to feel beautiful and sensual. It’ not about following trends. Her ideal customer is a woman who doesn’t follow trends but wears clothing that is a reflection of her personal style. Bonnie Strauss knows how lovely it can be for a woman to embrace her femininity.(Do you know someone like this?)
When I spoke with her, she said that everything inspires her — nature, music, art, sculpture, fabric, color and texture, but music is her greatest inspiration. Moving forward into spring of 2016 and “Awards season,” I envision many beautiful (and style-savvy) actresses wearing her designs on the red carpet. I can actresses like Rachael McAdams, Margot Robbey and Zoe Saldana wearing Bonnie Strauss designs. It would be fabulous. They all have that ‘alluring’ common thread.
Strauss’ designs are timeless and for any age. We bonded over pink hair and from then on, I was hooked. A favorite “Bonnie signature statement” is how she partners one of her stunning tops with distressed jeans and a slight heel. Bonnie makes chic look so easy. The reality of her designs involve an enormous amount of work and discipline. She works hard and her creativity never stops. Her collection reflects the following adage: “Fashion is what you buy and style is what you do with it!” I have her sequined top in blush and when wearing it, I am always asked about the brand and where to buy it. It always happens.
Bonnie loves light and whimsical colors. She has a bit of magical that is reflected in her designs. Looking at the photos of her collection takes me to a calm and serene place. She– and her clothingline– will never go out of style. If I had her clothes in my closet, getting dressed would be a lovely task. Everything would flow. I am forever grateful to have an authentic understanding of fashion and design through Bonnie Strauss.
