Celebrity Hair Stylist Dennis Stokely Curates Best Hairstyles at 58th Grammys!

It was a hot, hot evening at the Grammys in Los Angeles last night! The temperature was soaring It was rife with women in all sorts of finery and gorgeous gems. While we all like to look at the fashion (and beauty) of the red carpet events, often as not, it’s about style and details. When it comes to hair, it’s no different. In fact having a bad hair day on the red carpet can haunt a celebrity for years to come. Of course if you have a great hair stylist like Dennis Stokely on board, that is a ‘non-issue’. He always nails the look like this fabulous style on Brooke Anderson!

Sophisticated Ladies Slay 58th Annual Grammys with Ultra-Chic Hairstyles!

LA-STORY contributing editor, DENNIS STOKELY breaks down
the top 5 trending looks from music’s big night!

Red-carpet season always reaches a fever pitch at the Grammys and this year’s hairstyles did not disappoint. From the edgy-red-wig that Lady Gaga wore for her David Bowie-inspired tribute, the “mistake-Blonde” haircolor of Justin Bieber, the Grammy-statue-coif of Angelique Kidjo and the fabulous locks of Meghan Trainor and Taylor Swift, Grammy hairstyles ROCK!

Here are my Top 5 hairstyles from this year’s show!

#1 TAYLOR SWIFT
taylor

Every generation has an “it-girl” and Taylor Swift rules the heap at the moment. When it comes to hair, she nails it with her flawless page boy bob and heavy bangs.

Shorter hair is skewing on red carpets and runways everywhere and this haircut will have teenage girls, soccer moms and cougars from coast to coast chopping their hair off this Spring!

#2 CARRIE UNDERWOOD
CU

I saw Carrie backstage a few times at AMERICAN IDOL when I was Paula Abdul’s hairstylist. She always reminded me of the gorgeous pageant girls I remember from growing up in the South.

Well, not tonight! Carrie has definitely left her Oklahoma hair days behind. Her stunning new haircut: a collarbone length bob with long layers is an effortless look that transitions from Carrie’s country-girl roots to forever-evolving superstar status.

#3 MEGHAN TRAINOR

My favorite hair makeover of the night was Meghan’s! Gone are the long extensions, blonde barrel curls and big messy hair of her pop-star start. In its’ place, Meghan hits a home run with her new, shorter, sassy look.

Her hair’s multi-dimensional red hues, soft curls, deep side part and tousled texture is executed to perfection. For anyone out there wanting to take a walk on the shorter side, this stunning hairstyle should make you want to be a “Meghan Trainor copycat!”

#4 LADY GAGA

GAGA

Lady Gaga stuns the crowd with her David Bowie inspired tribute. For hair snobs everywhere, a lace-front wig is the ultimate way to live another hair fantasy. She wore a beautiful blonde lace-front last week at her Super Bowl performance, a blue lace-front on the Grammy red-carpet and a show-stopping red-lace front on stage.

Leave it to Lady Gaga to wear her red, white and blue better than the rest of us! Of course, it is an election year! Her glam squad is constantly pushing her into couture and performance art–and killing it every time!

#5 ADELE
A

Adele is on a roll! Her fresh-faced VOGUE cover for March is the first look we have of her new tour-ready image. She has quit smoking; cut back on drinking and lost some weight. Her understated red carpet hairstyle… shorter, less volume and messy was a modern change from her highly styled throwback bouffants of the last years.

Her stage performance hairstyle, a loosely pulled back french twist was a perfect complement to her elegant cranberry bejeweled evening gown. I am loving the new edit of her image!

And there you have it, my Top 5 hairstyles of the 58th Grammys! I will be back on Sunday, February 28, 2016 with my Annual “Best” and “Worst” hairstyles from the upcoming OSCARS.

Have a great week. See you after the Oscars!

  1. I do think Carrie Underwood left Oklahoma hair in the past…she looks much more urban/hip than in the past. Adele…not so sure this is her best hair day ever..it may be hip, but not so flattering. The pageboy has certainly rebounded!
