Coachella Trends: Fashion Illustrator & Designer Emily Brickel Edelson Trendspots Music Festivals!

Trendspotting Festival Fashion
Here are some great pieces that would work for Coachella (or any music festival), special events or concerts. The key element when one is trendspotting for any music festival or big summer event, is to key in on the trends for that year and work those ” limited time trend” items in with items you already have in the closet. To do that, one needs to have a sense of the key trend for this season when one is doing this.

Coachella is one of the earliest music festivals each year. It’s great resource for music trends as well as fashion and spotting upcoming trends. This piece or article will be showing off some of the trends in illustration format. There will be more pieces that show off the key trends from Coachella for Summer 2016. It is being done in sections so that it wind up looking like an encyclopedia. Boring to read and time-consuming to write.

We are lucky enough to be able to share some fabulous illustrations from Emily Brickel Edelson, a well-known fashion illustrator, designer and entrepreneur.

This trend was seen at Coachella, streetwear shots and also on the red carpet.  Cowboy boots toughen up the look, the lariat gives it finesse.

Perfect summer casual fashion with shorts, plunge-front top with a bandeau underneath. One could sub a bathing suit top or a cropped workout top for the bandeau.  Note the choker necklace.

The current riff on the carwash skirt using fringe instead. Booties, graphic tee and hat make the entire outfit work

The top could be a cropped with or without a tie and is shown with a shirt or a jacket. Note the choker, and short necklace layered on plus the hat.

This outfit is crazy great with a cropped tie-front top with full bell sleeves  and a very short skirt or  tap pant-like shorts.

This drawing was done before Coachella. It’s trend that is seen in LA as well as Coachella as worn by Gigi Hadid. Sleek, sophisticated and minimalist but the details like the shoes and jewelry make it all work.

  1. I LIKE ALL OF THESE. Coachella ( the style) and Tucson in the summer are kindred spirits, funky, individualistic, skin showing…but much more money is spent on Coachella.

  2. Pam, I liked almost all of those designs too. I thought Emily’s illustrations were amazing. They nailed style trends seen in LA and I love 2-3 of the items. I think if you can find a silhouette that is similar in stores in Tucson, buy it! (fast!) and don’t look back!
