Clapit Announces the Winner + Finalists of the “Make Me a Muse Contest!! Congrats!

I have featured clapit before on this blog. Clapit is a new social platform that skips the algorithms and goes right for the good stuff- curating content based on your applause AKA “claps” that people give any post, photo or any content shared on that platform. It delivers a more authentic experience of the things you like and vote on because it is YOUR vote that tells them that you like it. Worth trying clapit if only to experience how much fun it is to see a content stream that isn’t about ads or what the platform thinks you should see, but what you want to see via your own votes. In that post that is linked above, I shared the #makemeamuse contest that clapit was launching. The contest is now over and we have not only the grand prize winner but the two runner-ups.

Revealed at an award dinner in New York City, Emma Scribner, 20, from Austin, Texas, was selected as the winner of a 3-year contract with Muse Management on their Influencer Board, and a 6-month contract as the global face of clapit.

“We were thrilled to join forces with top New York City modeling agency Muse Management for this innovative search for the next influencer to represent our brands,” said Paul Bedwell, clapit co-founder and CEO.

“Emma is a very deserving winner of the title of the next Muse. Her expressive personality and passion really shone through in her #makemeamuse portfolio and she impressed our team with her ability to create meaningful, positive relationships across the global clapit community. We are pleased that this contest has driven increased collaboration between technology, social media and fashion, and we thank the industry influencers who came out to support #makemeamuse and recognize Emma at last night’s event.”

Emma Scribner is a third year University of Texas, Austin Neuroscience major and Art Therapy Minor. Raised in New Braunfels, TX, she was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 6. She grew up experiencing regular seizures and underwent brain surgery at age 15 to treat it. She later had a second un-related brain surgery to remove a small tumor and has since acted as a local advocate for organizations raising awareness for epilepsy and brain disorders, particularly providing support for children battling medical issues.

“I am so flattered to be selected as the winner of #makemeamuse because I would not have made it here without help from other girls like me!” said Emma. “It is my goal in life to apply what I have learned from my personal experiences towards helping youth with medical conditions and to raise awareness about epilepsy, and I am excited that this role gives me an opportunity to do this. I have been so encouraged by the positive responses from the clapit community and am beyond satisfied with the kind-hearted feedback that I have received on the app!”

“All of our finalists were extraordinary and it was a difficult decision for our judging panel,” said Conor Kennedy, Muse Model Management President. “It was imperative that we find someone who was engaging and had an expressive personality, which are factors that we look for in a Muse influencer. clapit provided an ideal platform to get a well-rounded view of our contestants’ personalities and passions, while providing them a unique vehicle for global recognition. Emma’s personality shone through on her profile page and across her #makemeamuse selfie-reactions – making her a favorite with the clapit community and judging panel alike. She will be a valuable addition to our Influencer Board.”

#makemeamuse launched on May 25, 2016. In order to apply, contestants were asked to show a range of emotions using clapit’s #makemeamuse selfie-reaction button. Once content was posted on clapit, the community up-voted their favorite entries with a ‘clap.’ Unlike other networks, clapit does not rely on algorithms but allows the clapit community to decide what is trending based on the amount of applause (claps)

The #makemeamuse judging panel was comprised of
Conor Kennedy, President of Muse Management;
Lara Bonomo, Director at Muse Management and former Bookings Editor at Teen Vogue;
Nick Hudson, Editorial Fashion + Beauty Photographer;
Neada Jane, clapit Ambassador and former Managing Editor at Garance Doré.
