Learn the 6 Benefits to Aloe Vera for Skin + Hair! Amelia Robert, Guest Blogger!

Natural products for skin and hair are often difficult to assess. It’s easy to get confused about which ingredients are smart choices for skincare and haircare. And it’s often very confusing on where to find solid information on natural ingredients that are suitable for skin and/or hair treatment. Amelia Robert of FixYourSkin.com has written many posts about natural skincare and hair care. She is our guest blogger today on how Aloe Vera can be the answer to your prayer for a natural ingredient that can do double duty for skincare and haircare.

6 Benefits of Aloe Vera for Skin and Hair

People have been using aloe vera for centuries to treat skin, hair, and health related issues. The plant has thick green leaves that secrete a clear gel which is widely used in many beauty products. The gel of this wonder plant can be applied to relieve everything from itching, burning skin, to constipation and stomach aches. An aloe leaf contains 99% water, and the rest is made of amino acids, glucomannans, sterols, lipids, and vitamins.

It also has other healing compounds such as polysaccharides and glycoproteins which stimulate skin growth and speed up the healing process.

Although it is beneficial in many ways, most of us are interested in those related to skin and hair. Here are some of the top benefits.

1. Treats pigmentation

Pigmentation and freckles steal away your glow. Pigmentation is caused by sun damage, hormonal imbalance or due to earlier skin conditions. Even though it’s not harmful to the skin, most people want to get rid of it as it makes them conscious about their appearance. Aloe Vera is a highly effective home treatment for pigmentation, and you can see visible results within a month. Apply the gel directly on the affected areas and wash off after 20 minutes. You can also use it half an hour before bedtime and wash off the next morning. It will heal the pigmented area and fixyourskin(http://fixyourskin.com/)quickly.

2. Reduces the appearance of wrinkles

Aloe vera has many anti-aging benefits for the skin. Unlike other products available in the market, the nutrients and vitamins present in it penetrate deep into the layers of the skin and prevent premature wrinkle formation. The antioxidants in it help combat free radicals which are responsible for aging. Also, it increases the production of collagen which is essential for a young, healthy and radiant complexion. You can combine aloe vera with a few drops of lemon juice and apply it on your face for 20 minutes which is an excellent anti-wrinkle mask. 3. Clears Acne

Fresh aloe vera gel is an excellent source of vitamins(http://fixyourskin.com/14-potent-vitamins-for-younger-and-healthier-skin/) which can help to heal the skin and fade scars. It has natural astringent properties and helps to keep skin pores free from sebum.

Also, it efficiently reduces inflammation and swelling. Applying aloe vera gel directly on the affected skin will help clear out acne and lessen the pain caused by swelling. When you have acne prone skin, it is also important to use the right bodywash.

4. Gets Rid of Dandruff

Aloe vera can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment to reduce dandruff. The natural enzymes present in it will destroy the excess dead skin cells and fungus which leads to dandruff. It also balances the pH level of the scalp. Just apply the gel on your scalp and massage for 2 minutes. Leave it on your scalp for another 10 minutes and rinse well before you use your actual shampoo. Instead of using aloe vera gel you can also use the juice.

5. Combats Frizzy hair

It contains natural conditioning agents which make your hair shine. The amino acid in it helps to make hair soft but also enhances its strength and suppleness. It combats frizz naturally and does not lead to any greasy buildup which most other hair products leave behind. Aloe also helps to lock in moisture which makes your hair smooth and keeps it free of knots.

6. Prevents Hair Loss

One of the best natural treatments to prevent hair loss for both men and women is aloe vera. It rejuvenates hair follicles and reduces thinning. Also, it has proteolytic enzymes that remove dead skin cells and open up the hair follicles allowing nutrients to enter the pores. So for those of you experiencing hair fall problems, using organic products that have aloe vera is an excellent choice.

Aloe vera is truly a miracle plant. As it has several benefits for skin and hair, it has gained widespread use in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. If you’re not able to grow the plants you can buy creams, moisturizers, and lotions that contain aloe vera. Also while purchasing these, avoid added fragrances and dyes and look for 100% pure gels. Everyone wants to look young and radiant. However, free radicals and other environmental factors can take a toll on your beauty. So use aloe vera to protect your skin and stay beautiful.

Good luck with your exploration of using aloe vera for your skin or hair care!

  1. Aloe vera is just awesome. It’s one of those things that has like 10 million uses while also being 1. inexpensive and 2. non-toxic. Kind of like baking soda, except it’s a plant. It’s even a nice looking plant and makes for a nice decoration in your house!
