How the Latest Fall Makeup Trends Will Influence Your Overall Style? Guest Blogger! “

Do the fashion trends for Fall 2016 have you in a bit of a frazzle? Even the most dedicated beauty and fashion editors commented that there was not just ONE main trend for this fall but so many that it will be challenging to sift through fashion trends and see how to marry the fashion pieces that you have with new ones you score and then put the makeup look together so that it really works for you rather than looking like “over-done something”

Luckily we have Cathy Habas, a freelance writer who found this beauty meets fashion challenge interesting. Here is her take on it.

strong>How the Latest Fall Makeup Trends Will Influence Your Overall Style
The fashion runway is like an alternate reality where models flaunt outrageous styles in hair, makeup and clothing. And while many of us are busy thinking, “I wouldn’t wear that!” the beauty mavens are picking out the best bits and pieces from the catwalk, distilling them down into manageable fragments for the rest of us to wear in a few months’ time.

So what do those mavens have in store for us this season? Here’s what’s causing a stir in the world of makeup:
Trend 1: DARK

Eyeliner- Any Way You Like It
Personally, I have never managed to perfect the art of applying eyeliner. What I envision as a delicate black line turns into a lopsided zig-zag, and it all goes downhill from there. If you’re like me, there’s good news! This season, it’s chic to wear eyeliner that doesn’t follow the rules. Wear it thick, wear it thin. Put it up top only or wear it all around. Smudge it or keep it crisp. However it turns out, you’re just being fashionable!

If ruby red lipstick is the darkest option in your makeup bag, get ready to go on a shopping spree. Dark lips that tend toward black are very popular. Purples, deep reds, burnt oranges, browns, and even dark greens or straight-up black are all colors you could try. But unless you adore the 90s grunge look, take it easy on the eyeliner if choose these colors, and let your lips be in the spotlight!

Style tips: If you want to wear dark lips with smudged eyeliner, don’t drown yourself in an all-black outfit. Wear deep colors mixed with neutrals, like purple or maroon with taupe or beige. Or, you can opt for a pop of bright color, but either keep it small (as in an accessory or part of a pattern) or locate it away from your face (as in a skirt or pair of pants, rather than a shirt).

Trend 2: NATURAL

Ease Up on Contouring
Getting ready in the morning just got a whole lot easier. The natural look is coming back in style again, and an even skin tone with simple highlights is all you need to get started. Then, add a touch of blush to mimic the rosy glow you get in crisp weather, as well as peachy eyeshadow to round out the look if needed.

Style tips: If you choose to wear more natural makeup, you have full freedom of expression with your outfit without running the risk of clashing horribly one way or another. Try wearing patterned fabrics to add some interest to your overall look, or start with a basic white dress and style it up with accessories and layers.

Trend 3: BRIGHT
Go for Glitter

Glitter-infused makeup is starting to really pick up steam. Rather than giving just a simple metallic look, this makeup really emphasizes the chunks of glitter found within. Glitter eyeshadow is all the rage, but you can find glitter makeup for your lips and cheeks too. And, of course, there are plenty of glittery nail polishes you can experiment with as well.

More Than a Touch of Color
If you love color and aren’t afraid to shout it from the rooftops, you are in luck. Colored mascara is in. Colored eyebrows are even in. Wild eyeshadows and lipsticks are popular. Rock those neon colors, don’t be shy!

Style tips: Do you love the fact that you can wear brightly colored mascara and lipstick? Then choose an outfit that sticks to a basic black and white color scheme or another neutral palate. Then add a couple of accessories to complement your bright makeup, like a bold pair of bright-yellow heels. You don’t want to go overboard with the color and confuse people about where they should look.

Mix and Match
Obviously, mixing all of the trends above would result in an interesting look, to say the least. But do mix and match some of the trends, like glitter and color, or smudge colored eyeliner with dark lips (or vice versa). The possibilities are endless. If you love playing around with new makeup trends, you’re sure to be like a kid in a candy shop this season.
And if in doubt, experiment! Only you truly know how to best express yourself with the makeup, clothes and hairstyles you choose.
