Celebrity Makeup Artist Patrick Ta Shares Sophia Bush’s SAG Awards Beauty Breakdown!

I missed watching the SAG Awards Red Carpet but it didn’t stop me from looking at the photos of the women on the red carpet. One of the key looks that really stood out was Sophia Bush! I loved her eyes because they stood out and it wasn’t just the usual look with a nudge towards glamour. Sophia’s eyes were attention-getters and really created a great look for SAG Awards.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Patrick Ta used Chanel on Sophia Bush and he shares his breakdown on how to achieve the look and which products he used!

An Interview with Makeup Artist Patrick Ta (@patrickta) on creating his beauty look for Sophia Bush:

Q: Who did you work with tonight, and how long have you been working together?

Patrick Ta:

Sophia Bush. We’ve been working together since she announced the nominees for the SAG Awards.

Q: What steps did you take to prep for the look, and what inspired you?

Patrick Ta:

I was super-excited for today’s look. When Sophia showed me her dress, I instantly knew what I wanted to do.

I didn’t want the typical match-the-lip-to-the-gown thing, so I chose to play up the eyes. It had to be strong, modern and just beautiful, so I went for pink and purple eyeshadow!

Q: How did you create Sophia’s eye look?

Powder Blush in Rouge Profound

–I started with a mixture of CHANEL Powder Blush in Vibration and Rouge Profond in the eye crease. I really wanted the color to pop, so I put CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Sensuelle — yes, lipstick — on her lid.

–I packed the bright pink shade onto the lid for intensity, then defined her lower, inner waterline with CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis.

— I blended on blush, CHANEL Powder Blush in Vibration and Rouge Profond, to keep the color seamless.

–The final color was the deep purple shade from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Cambon on the outer crease.

–After curling her lashes, I topped it off with two coats of CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.
Q: How did you style her brows?

Patrick Ta:

To create a thicker brow, I applied a pencil one shade lighter than her natural shade. I love the CHANEL Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil because it’s thin, and you can add more dimension with the CHANEL La Palette Sourcils de Chanel Brow Powder Duo in 40 Naturel.

Q:Tell us about the rest of Sophia’s makeup look.

Patrick Ta:

–After foundation, I lightly contoured the hollows of her cheeks with CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base, plus a little CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15.

–I applied highlighter to the high points of her cheekbones, then Chanel Powder Blush in Vibration to the apples for a healthy flush.

— For Sophia’s lips, I blended CHANEL Crayon de Couleur Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayon in Nude and Rose Claire. The crayons are really great because they make your lips look healthy and plump.

Q: What did you give Sophia for touch-ups?

Patrick Ta:

Both lip colors, plus a little bit of powder on a powder puff. The powder puff is just for the center of the face, but it’s great to leave the perimeter dewy.

Q: How can you recreate this type of eye look at home?

Patrick Ta:

This is definitely a look for when you have an event, or an outfit you really want to show off. A key thing is, you should do this type of look with intention: Don’t go halfway. For a bolder look, lipsticks can really enhance powders, and they photograph so beautifully. Just don’t use them above the eye crease.
For a simpler take, just choose one element of the look to incorporate.
