When you head off to a music festival no matter where it is, you need to take products (*or what we call “stuff”) with you to keep you cool, comfortable and not fried (AKA sunburnt!). I was able through some great connections to send questions to DDF’s Dr. Howard Sobel, Malin + Goetz, and celebrity nail artist, Skyy Hadley!
Dr. Sobel, founder of DDF Skincare, tips and product recommendations for anyone attending Coachella or going to spend a lot of time outdoors:
1) Clearly sunblock is essential for Coachella. How high an SPF should someone use when out at this event, and how often to apply? Any other sunblock tips and tricks you might recommend?
Dr. Sobel:
A quarter amount will cover your face, neck, and ears for the day, just ensure that you are reaching for SPF 30 or higher, even in overcast days. You can apply SPF under or lightly patted over makeup, as SPF in most makeup products are simply not enough to protect the face from the sun’s harmful rays.

2) What tips or tricks would you recommend for the following skin-types along with essential product recommendations?
Dr. Sobel:
Acne skin/Dry skin: The goal is balance. I like my patients to use a Salicylic wash, no more than 2% and then apply acne treatment only to the blemish prone areas of skin.
A possible alternative is a Glycolic gel that will help minimize oil and acne breakouts but be careful to apply just a small amount and keep away from eyes.
3)Normal skin:
Dr. Sobel:
You should apply moisturizer to the face and body directly after your shower. The goal is to lock in the moisture, applying moisturizer immediately post-shower is key to sealing water in the skin.

4)Is there one all-purpose product that everyone should use?
Dr. Sobel:
Drink tons of water, make sure to get an appropriate amount of sleep, eat foods rich in antioxidants and of course wearing sunscreen.

The Trend for 2017 is white with a hint of cream mix
2)How can the rest of us replicate them?
Skyy Hadley:
Replicate is easy. Go to the best drug store, CVS and pick up a white color by Sally Hansen as well as a light cream – white first and the light cream second
Try Sally Hansen’s Get Mod white and Cream of the Crop (cream)
3)Are there different colors and or trends for toes/color trends for Coachella?
Skyy Hadley:
Coachella is a free spirit festival so all colors goes but mostly the glitter and the deep pink
Two great pinks to try: Dip Into Pretty’s On Pointe( a delicate creamy pale pink) and Pink (a great vibrant pink with an understated sparkle). Don’t forget to buy the Dip Into Pretty toe spacers to help you get the perfect pedicure!
4)How to keep pastels from yellowing and/or fading?
Skyy Hadley:
To keep pastels from staining or yellowing use a high gloss top coat and on the third day, reapply.
5)Any embellishments that are easy to do and keep up?
Skyy Hadley:
Embellishment on a small scale is easy – A simple gold or silver strip on the nails is amazing
6)Not only for Coachella- what would be the shades you would recommend for spring & summer 2017?
Skyy Hadley:
This summer shades are awesome in the rainbow colors in a bright way the light blues, the cream pinks, and lavender follow with a soft green
7)Should we match nails and toes or contrast?
Skyy Hadley:
Yes, matching is classy but mixing it up is also the way to sport your look
