So. Calif. Mixologists: DRINKHACKER + Lucid Absinthe Want Your Best Cocktails!

Lucid Absinthe Supérieure® and digital cocktail resource, Drinkhacker, today announce a contest to find the next Cocktail Classique Champion in Southern California.

Lucid-bottle

Open to working mixologists in Southern California, the contest seeks to find the talent behind the most creative cocktails that use Lucid Absinthe.
The winning recipe will be awarded a $1,000 prize courtesy of Drinkhacker.

Once a core ingredient in most classic cocktails, absinthe was banned in the United States for 95 years. Following efforts by research scientist turned distiller T. A. Breaux, the ban was repealed in 2007, and Lucid Absinthe Supérieure became the first authentic absinthe to be legally sold in the US.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the repeal of the ban so it’s fitting that through this competition, we celebrate absinthe’s continued return to the back bar,” said Keri Eliason, Brand Manager, Lucid Absinthe. “We’re also excited to have Drinkhacker as our national partner. Together, I’m confident that we’ll find some exceptional mixology talent in Southern California.”

“The energy of Southern California is matched only by the creativity of its cocktail community, as local bartender talent is pushing the mixology envelop to meet the unique tastes of discerning customers,” said Christopher Null, Editor-in-Chief, Drinkhacker. “This is a great pool of talent that will not only appreciate the sophisticated nuances of Lucid Absinthe, but will also be able to showcase it in new and interesting cocktails.”

The field of entries will be narrowed to 10 finalists who will be announced on August 28.
The 10 finalists will be invited to mix up their own concoctions at the Lucid Absinthe Cocktail Classique Finals on September 11, an event that will be open to the public.
The cocktails will be judged by a panel that includes
T. A. Breaux, Founder + Master Distiller, Lucid Absinthe;
Christopher Null, Editor-in-Chief, Drinkhacker
Jason Horn, Drinks Writer for Playboy, Daily Beast, Garden & Gun and others.
A “Fan Favorite” will be selected by the attending public and will receive $500 from Drinkhacker.
