Learn 2018’s Haute Hair Color Trends via Oscar’s Red Carpet + eSalon.com!

If you are looking to change up the look of your hair, nothing speaks louder about hair trends (styles and colors) for the upcoming season than celebrity hairstyles. And when it comes to celebrity hair, The Academy Awards is the biggest, boldest event in entertainment when it comes to nailing down fashion and beauty trends-particularly those in hair color and hairstyles.
eSalon.com, the custom-blended hair color line that provides you a DIY hair color solution with customized color that you would get in a salon setting.

eSalon.com wrote this  “trendspotting” piece below on how hot hair color trends show up on the “red carpet” and what trends are worthy of note.

2018 Hair Trends to Watch on the Oscars Red Carpet

The thing I love about the end of one year and the start of a new one is the listicle roundups that summarize the best of the best from the previous year. You can read lists about seemingly everything – makeup, music, movies, books, etc. It’s a great way to catch up on the good things you may have missed over the year.

Another great part of the start of a new year is awards season! From January through March, we get to relive the greatness of entertainment from the previous year and also see plenty of fashion and beauty statements on the red carpet. These events can set the trends for the year from everything to fashion styles to hair color.

The next trendsetting event I’m looking forward to is the Oscars – check out all of the nominations to catch up on the movies listed before the show airs on March 4. Recently, eSalon, a 2017 Allure best home color winner for their custom bespoke hair color, posted a list of the 2018 hair color trends. I think you’ll find the red carpet filled with hair inspiration too. Check out our list of celebrities and hair colors to look for!

We can’t talk about the Oscars without giving it up for “The Shape of Water,” which earned a whopping 13 nominations! Sally Hawkins is in the running for best actress for her portrayal of Elisa, a mute janitor. Without any lines for her character, we get the pleasure of watching her face tell the story. How could we not notice her deep brown tresses.

To get Hawkin’s look, ask your stylist to cool down all of the golden hues in your hair. This cool look will give you hair a matte finish by making your brunette shade deeper, not darker.

Expect the red carpet to be dotted with many talented and beautiful blondes. Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan are both nominated for best actress and Greta Gerwig is nominated for best director for “Lady Bird.” Movie lovers also recently blew up social media with the comparison of Margot Robbie to Jamie Pressly – they really look like they could be twins! Use the nostalgia of a coming-of-age film for inspiration to add some bold and warm blonde tones to your hair so it feels grown up too.

Ask your stylist to add some golden and ash tones to your hair to create a powerhouse beige shade that teeters between warm and cool shades. This multidimensional look will help your tresses look full of volume too.

Wines and Spices

Real talk, I’m a huge Jessica Chastain fan and I couldn’t believe that “Molly’s Game” didn’t get more love in the nominations this year. But I guess that’s the fun (and frustration) of award season! So to give Chastain the love I think she deserves, I’m throwing it back to eSalon’s fall trends too – pumpkin spice. Take your brunette hair up a level by adding some coppery undertones for a rich, multidimensional color that isn’t overly red.

Another color trend for 2018 is mulled wine, a daring look for brunettes who want to add some mahogany undertones for a fierce look that isn’t in your face. Ask your stylist to bump up your dark brown shade by adding red-violet colors.

Thanks to eSalon.com for such a GREAT trendspotting piece on hair color. It’s not always easy translating what’s seen in movies and on the red carpet into hair color but if anyone can do it, eSalon.com can!!

eSalon.com has some of the sharpest and most experienced hair colorists on staff. I have used their hair color and regular hair maintenance products for over 2 years. The color is great and the hair maintenance products (shampoo, conditioner, detangler, deep conditioner,  and styling products) are terrific.
