I am always on the hunt for interesting cocktails and even more interesting places to sip them. Once I find a place, I wind up visiting it several times before I want to try some other places. And sometimes, that “moving on” doesn’t happen!
A Smokin’ Selection Of Spirits
It’s very early November 2018, and if you are in So. California, you need to snag a friend or two and head down to South Bay/Redondo Beach area to visit Chez Melange .
This great place has created as a smokin’ selection of spirits that you won’t want to miss out on.
The Gin and Stormy is made with London’s Dry Gin, pomegranate juice, a splash of Elliots Ginger Beer, sugar rim and a smoking snifter.
“Fall” Into Brooklyn begins with a Templeton Rye, Vya Sweet Dry vermouth, black walnut bitters, baked apple spice bitters, cidered apples and garnished with a fresh cherry.
The Pumpkin ‘Pie’ Martini is made with Absolute Vanilla Vodka, Bailey’s, Kahlua, pumpkin reductions, whipped cream and finished with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch rim.
Finally, the Baby It’s Cold Outside consists of Woodford Reserve, fresh homemade horchata and zested with a chocolate couverture.

When restaurateur Michael Franks met chef Robert Bell, the pair knew they were destined to become business partners which ultimately led to opening Chez Melange in 1982. With hopes of making the South Bay recession-proof, Chez Melange offered unique options that were unheard of at the time by combining American, European, and Asian fusion dishes into a menu that changed daily.
