When Is a New Restaurant NOT a New Restaurant– Or Do Posted Opening Dates Have a Purpose?

Down where I live near the beach, we have a “main drag” that is definitely a great “walk” and it’s filled with chain stores plus some interesting indie stores (a Powell’s is a candy store that has homemade gelato, ice cream, sorbet and every kind of vintage & imported candy they could find and is next door to a chi-chi higher end boutique that has some really nice shoes and clothing–with price tags to match). The area is known for a bit of quaintness mixed with lots of fun places to hang out and dine. However we have had a lot of changes on “the street” of places to eat– as well as other areas. Lately, it’s been interesting on how to find out when something is open because despite Yelp, Facebook and their own websites, the information seems to be incorrect or just plain missing.

New York Times’ Stephanie Clifford Talks about Crazy Sizing of Women’s Clothing!!

This is an excerpt from an extremely well-written article by Stephanie Clifford from the New York Times about the insanity of the inconsistent sizing of women’s clothing. I am going to excerpt parts of it here and then comment about it — because I am no slouch at being able to figure out what size I am. Mostly because I got to live through her shopping experience in the world of Saks, Bloomingdales, Rent the Runway and one of my favorite fashion designers, Nanette Lepore!

Black Friday Could Actually Mean SPAM Friday! Had Enough Turkey, Try Some Spam!

I like writing my blogs–otherwise why would I do it? I also like getting comments. I got a comment on Black Friday that I thought was kind of funny– but then I realized it was from “Ellen DeGeneres“.. but then I realized it wasn’t Ellen at all but a spam commment. I checked the other 9 comments left to be moderated and each had a celebrity name tied to it. Each was from a different email address, but the IP addresses were identical and so were the URLS that they tied to each post.
Sometimes I wonder why I ask for comments but this really was a prize– because it was spot-on dead and each one of the comments had to be deleted.
