Early perfumes were based on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients.
Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs. Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates outside of their indigenous Asia.

A leisurely weekend. But the weird thing is, that while I was out search for certain sites that would show me spots to hit on my way to where I am going, I found this interesting site on and you would not believe how distracted I became from my initial purpose. I almost got so carried away, I almost forgot to leave on my trip. Could you believe that? I guess that site was a little more interesting than what I was doing or something reminded me that I was looking for this in the first place. Funny how the mind works.
Hey there
next time you need to know where to hit in LA or in So. Cal, let me know. I have LOTS of recommendations on things that are part of “the scene” as well as things off the beaten path that are real So. CAL..
