Band of Thieves Steal Some Rock & Roll Thunder– and Give Smokin' Music

Last June I was in New York City for less than 5 days (*including travel time). During that time I was able to interview designers, get a fab facial (Shizuka!!), learn how to get around NYC by myself and ride the subway.
One day really stands out as a killer day– a day of adventure– when I managed to interview not one but TWO bands– from entirely different music perspectives and one of them was Band of Thieves!! ..
This band was just about 4 months old (who would have thunk it ?) and were playing like they had been together for 4 years……. the music was tight and really cookin’. Loved what I heard during sound-check and I had a chance to talk to Tyler, the lead singer for the band — and essentially the voice OF the band. Scroll down for the podcast!

I had only heard four songs and was working off that and trying to figure out where the rest of the music was…. that was it because they had spent an enormous amount of time in the recording studio recently (*at that time) and the cuts were still fairly raw. But seeing them live– WOW– hot as a firecracker and showing off twice as much spark and fire!.

Here’s a video of their most well-known song — WOMAN.

Podcast with Tyler, lead singer from Band of Thieves.
Tyler and I walked down from the Bowery Ballroom to a park to do this interview. In the midst of talking, some guy came up and asked us for $20.00. If you listen carefully, you can hear him ask for the dinero. I know this was a homeless person and they are in need but in LA the most I have ever been hit up for is $5. I guess there’s a different “minimum” for donations to the homeless. $20 is still a lot of money. It’s one of those really odd ball things that one can say “only in New York City!”
If you haven’t heard this band, check them out! Their CD is out and is available on iTunes!! Download asap!! This is scorching hot music and perfect for a gift and seeing them is a great date night.
