New York Fashion Week: Gucci/Madonna Party Style Reviews by Michaela Jedinak, UK Stylist and Fashion Analyst Part 1

New York Fashion Week was a hot bed of activity, but almost none of the shows were as celebrity laden as the Gucci party that Madonna was hosting on the lawn of the United Nations building. Here are a few snaps of celebrities and Michaela Jedinak’s evaluation of select outfits. (She covered the SAG Awards red carpet reviews) . Check out her site: www.joyofcolour.com
Katie Holmes

Colour: Fabulous choice for her, in line with current fashion trend and also for this type of event
Shape: Fabulous shape for her- when she is fuller she has the tendency to be a pear, but now that she lost so much weight(hopefully not any more) she lost the fullness on the lower half, but remains (typical for a pear) lean on top with a wonderful waist. So, this cape detail around her waist accentuates her shoulder, which gives it a beautiful straight line on top and falls perfectly tailored into her waist line. The dress goes out again around her hips and creates a perfect hourglass shape.
Style: A third fabulous her. I love the subtleness of her look- glamorous, stylish in every inch, but so subtle. Her hair style is working the dress and the choice of her accessories e.g. shoes, bracelets and handbag are not only bang on what is in fashion but all put together with her own style and personality: She has created her own signature look. Katie Holmes has transformed her look enormously. She has come a long way from last year when she was trying to find what works best on her, being advised by Posh and emerged into this wonderful young stylish woman. She is on her way to be a style icon.

Gavin Rossdale

Colour: Very nice for his colouring.
Shape: It is well tailored for his shape and the subtle pocket on his waist line is a nice detail to break the length of his top body. By wearing a two button suit it gives him a shaped and balanced figure.
Style: It all work for him- he keeps all the gloss and shine at the right places e.g. hair, tie, shoes to lift this very black outfit, which glamorizes it and makes it right for the occasion

Gwen Stefani

Colour: It all works for her, because she is keeping her hair up, breaking the colour with wearing a bright lipstick, softening the black by showing off her shoulders and adding colour with her embroidery around her décolleté line.
Shape: Perfect- she is a style icon and she hardly sets a foot wrong. Always true to her style personality, knowing what to wear to which occasion and how to work her body and show off her best parts. Now that she is rumoured to be pregnant again she is choosing a shape that flatters her new forms, by choosing a gathered empire line, that is flattering her tummy area, waistline and going for a strong eye catching feature in her décolleté line that balancing the growing fullness.
Style: Perfect- spot on with the current fashion, choice of bag- not distracting to her dress or décolleté line, but complimenting the line and style of dress. I love how true she is to her signature look…the only criticism here is her hair style- I don’t think it is so perfect …it looks too tousled…and doesn’t work with the neat shape and line of the dress \
