Want to know more about 10 Cane Rum? Here are answers to the most common questions!!
WHAT IS “FIRST PRESS CANE”? WHY SHOULD ANYONE CARE?
First Press Cane is the purest, most flavorful juice extracted from hand-harvested Trinidadian sugar cane. For 10 Cane, we only extract about 75% of the juice found in a sugar cane-the remainder is discarded. This method is a pure, better tasting way to make rum.
DOESN’T ALL RUM COME FROM SUGAR CANE?
All rums do start with sugar cane, but most other rums use cane that is harvested according to standards for sugar production and then turned into molasses. We start with Trinidadian sugar canes grown specifically to create 10 Cane.
TRINIDAD? DON’T THE BEST RUMS COME FROM OTHER ISLANDS?
We chose Trinidad because the quality of soil and the abundance of sunlight make it the perfect place to grow sugar cane.
HOW LONG IS 10 CANE AGED?
10 Cane is aged in French oak barrels for about 6 months. This is just long enough to mellow the raw cane spirit without masking its freshness. This is one part of what makes 10 Cane so wonderfully smooth.
WHEN IT COMES TO AGING, ISN’T IT “THE LONGER IT’S AGED THE BETTER THE RUM”? Aging doesn’t ensure a great rum. What matters is the quality of the ingredients and attention to detail at each step of the production process. When ingredients like first press cane juice are used and combined with just the right amount of aging, you can expect a wonderfully smooth rum.
WHY SHOULD I PAY MORE FOR RUM IF I AM JUST GOING TO MIX IT?
The quality of a cocktail depends entirely on the quality of the ingredients used. 10 Cane actually elevates cocktails that it’s added to.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DRINK 10 CANE
It’s up to you. 10 Cane elevates any cocktail, especially cocktails made with fresh ingredients that complement its light, smooth taste. Try it in a 10 Cane and Cola a (rum and coke), a Mojito, or a Daiquiri (a real one, the way it’s supposed to be.) 10 Cane can also be sipped, enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or mixed with soda or tonic.
WHY DOES 10 CANE COST MORE THAN OTHER RUMS?
10 Cane is a luxury rum. The process of creating 10 Cane is costly and labor intensive, but well worth it. We strive for the best: The hand-harvested cane, the first press cane juice, the small batch distillation in pot stills, and the French oak barrels that age it.
WHERE DOES THE NAME “10 CANE” COME FROM?
Traditionally, sugar canes were harvested in bundles of ten. Through our name, we aspire to show our love for the sugar cane.
WHY IS THE LABEL STUCK OVER THE CREST?
It began with a formal crest, a traditional symbol of luxury. We felt that we needed to reflect the crashing together of worlds that surround the product: The luxuriousness embodied by Moët Hennessy combined with the casual spirit of Trinidad. So, we added a sticker to the label and placed it directly over the crest. We feel this contrast embodies the spirit of the brand.
WHAT DOES 10 CANE TASTE LIKE?
In the words of an expert taster: Lightly golden color with aromas of pear and a hint of vanilla that are typical of sugar cane. On the palate, 10 Cane is beautifully balanced, smooth with a velvety texture. Perfect harmony between the lively flavors of fresh sugar cane with a hint of sweetness. The finish is extraordinarily long, with primary notes of sugar cane and oak.
Now that you have learned everything there is to know about 10 Cane Rum, there’s no reason for you not to buy it. So head out to your local store and get a kit or a bottle of this great premium rum!!
