New York Fashion Week: Joyce Hits the StyleList.com & Totalbeauty.com Party!

Joyce Artinian is back covering another event on NYFW for LA-Story.com Joyce manages to get inside some really interesting events and she provided the photos for this event as she did for Geren Ford.
My next stop on Fashion Week was the “Fashion for Everyone” party, which was co-hosted by AOL’s StyleList.com, a fashion and style Web site, and TotalBeauty.com, a beauty product review website at Arena nightclub lin Times Square, a stone’s throw away from the Bryant Park tents.

Participants included fashion label
Chloe & Reese,
It Cosmetics,
and hairstylists from Ted Gibson Salon
.

StyleList.com and TotalBeauty.com kicked off Fashion Week by partnering up for what was truly a feast for the senses! The expansive space featured performance artists,

large screens with televised fashion shows from the 90s (so vintage!), other fashionable footage and lots more.

The first place I visited was a nook at the top of a case of stairs to which I was beckoned by a red dress on display –

Chloe & Reese, a New York based fashion label, featured their fall 2008 collection (unlike the rest of fashion week’s participants which unveiled their spring 2009 collections) of wool coats, silk party dresses and pencil skirts in romantic, muted tones as well as bold colors.

Melissa Anderson, a rep for the label shared with me that all of their clothes are made in the USA and that founder and designer Annmarie Scotto was formerly a publicist in the beauty industry and launched the label as a result of not being able to find clothes that she was excited to wear. They also offer to customize the color and fabric of your favorite styles at their New York showroom, which you might want to check it out when you’re visiting NYC (check www.chloeandreese.com.) Want to see it in person but can’t make NYC? The collection is in LA in Neiman Marcus and Anthropologie.
Ted Gibson hairstylists
were set up on stage to add volume and texture to anyone who asked for it!

The gift bag was fittingly filled with little beauty treats including
Ted Gibson’s Body Shampoo and Conditioner( meant for the *human* body, not to add body to the hair) ( find it a beauty.com)
“Signature Smile Brightening Lip Gloss” from It Cosmetics–the gloss has a minty fresh scent and claims to plump lips and make teeth look whiter with its “special blue pigments.”

Co-founder & CEO Jamie Kern Lima spent years in TV industry, (in front of the camera), learning all of the tricks of the trade for looking TV-screen perfect and “magazine cover gorgeous”. She launched It Cosmetics to make these trade secrets accessible to consumers–in a box.
Key product: their “Abs in a Box Kit”, which comes in a men’s and women’s version.

No party would be complete without something to sip and snacks to nosh. The champagne poured and a variety of tasty hors d’oeuvres came around. But the real showstopper for us revelers was a chocolate fountain, which was set up at one of the bars with different fruits, cookies and marshmallows for drizzling. Yummy!
