Celebrities Reviewed : America Ferrera vs Anne Hathaway .
America Ferrera

COLOR:
Hm- is this the same dress she wore at the Golden Globe?
Never a good idea repeating the same look and theme – especially when the events are so close to each other. Not to mention it is never a clever idea repeating a bad colour, shape and look. She is a deep in her colouring and therefore she needs to stay to deep and rich colours- especially near her face. Neutral colours including muddy earthy tones are not in her colour palette. It looks wrong and is so unflattering .
BODYSHAPE:
The shape is literally a pear shape! She seems to have lost weight, but still she remains a pear shape. She carries her prime weight around her hips, bottom and thighs. So there should be no attention in these areas in details, volume, colour, pattern because they create bulk and add unnecessary weight to the fuller body part.
The upside of a pear shape is -besides having mostly a great waist– that they have the leverage of adding all the attention to their top. It’s important to keep in mind creating the waist, otherwise the result is a bulky silhouette. America ‘s frill top and black detail on her bust are a good choice to emphasize her top half. The black lace that starts on her bust and wraps around her waist to highlight it is a good choice. Everything what is below a the waist of a pear shape is ” a no fly zone”! Stay clear is the mission. Unfortunately that wasn’t accomplished here. The draping in the leg and thigh area are highlighting her fuller body shape on her lower half and make her look unbalanced to her top.
STYLE:
Her face, make up and hair look so pretty and it really unnerves me that this dress doesn’t do her justice in the choice of colour and shape of dress.
Overall Rating: 2** Two Stars
(Her face, hair and make up are rescuing it from 1*)

Anne Hathaway

COLOR:
The solid white is too light for Anne’s colouring, which is based on her dark hair, eyes and eyebrows. It would have been a different story if that had been her brides dress or she had chosen a whitish dress for the beach or day dress occasion. She is not balancing her darker colouring with another darker shade. The result is that her look is unbalanced, because her personal colouring seems out of context with this white dress. Her head doesn’t seem to be part of the dress below and it is washing her out.
BODYSHAPE:
Anne moved from a beautiful hourglass to a neat hourglass. This style of dress works on this new gained figure. The collar detail is a great detail to show off her long thin neck. Her top is beautifully nice fitted over her décolleté and bust line. The cut out sleeves provide her with beautiful volume and roundness on her slender shoulder line. The top of the dress is beautiful gathered in her high waisted metallic belt that gives view to her long waist and balances back with her collar detail. It also creates some curves around hip and bottom. The loose fitted skirt line works well on her long legs. All in all the style of the dress creates a beautiful silhouette.
STYLE:
Her matched metallic silver shoes are a bit too matchy with the dress. It would have been better to use a bright colour (green, blue or hot pink) to bring the dress more to life and distract from her very long white skirt line.
Otherwise it would have been great to use this bottom of the dress as a nice back ground for a dramatic or/vintage bag a la Carrie Bradshaw. Unfortunately, her look lacks life. It’s a shame this dress isn’t in a rich color like emerald green, red, purple or royal blue– it would have been top notch with this style of dress.
Overall Rating: 3*** Three Stars
