Swarovksi Fashion Week: Thuy Brings an Asian Fusion of Art and Design to NYFW

Thuy Diep is not exactly a new designer but this is her first year with Swarovski sponsorship. It is a signal that a designer’s fashion career has taken off and is going to fly high.

Another marker on that road is that Thuy the designer looks beyond the couture world into the world of the masses in launching an exclusive collection for QVC at a live broadcast from Bryant Park this NYFW. Not one to stay still, Thuy will be seen in a number of TV, cable and film projects including a Bravo show in April, 2010 and an independent film later in the year.

What does this all mean? It means that not only is she creatively viable within the high-end fashion community, she will also be commercially viable and available to consumers like you and me. Given her Vietnamese background, it is not surprising that Thuy would launch on multiple levels and leverage her brand and visibility to the greatest possible advantage.

This very creative designer has pushed her design aesthetic into areas that really stretch her creativity and with great success. The Asian and Western influences are seen in colors, patterns and designs.

She’s absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to see how she has translated her couture designs into the more commercial venture.
