Napoleon Perdis Gives TIps on Red Carpet Beauty, Fall Trends & More!

Celebrity makeup artist, Napoleon Perdis is certainly no stranger to LA or to this blog. While he’s back in NYC right now during NYFW, we managed to get a few tips, tricks, secrets and techniques for you regarding red carpet beauty and also fall beauty trends.

What did you think of the Emmy Awards looks? What trends did you see? Which products would you suggest to get those looks?

LIPS

Pretty in Pink. Examples: January Jones wore a gold pink pout. Emily Blunt opted for a nude pink shade. Very universally flattering shade. To get this look, use my DeVine Goddess in Hess or Athena, Luminous Lip Veil in Sahara Oasis or In The Flesh, or even NP Set Minneapolis.

Classic combination of matte red lip and lots of mascara was a popular choice. Eg: Kyra Sedgwick and Christina Hendricks of Mad Men.

EYES
Different variation of a metallic smoky eye.
Examples: Emily Blunt looked stunning with an eye palette of blue silver, gray and a pearly white. Use my Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad in 9 to get her look.

Then use my Light Patrol Luminizer Palette for that instant red carpet glow. Glee’s Lea Michele wore it with a winged eye, very modern Bridget Bardot

How do you transition from summer makeup into fall?

Napoleon Perdis:

Just as you can add tights to your favorite mini, you can adapt your summer beauty staples as the mercury plummets. No need to shelve your bronzer just yet. I love to sweep the individual squares of color from my Mosaic Bronzer through the socket of the eye to create added dimension. Here I would combine the rust and nude shades. Then I use the taupe and beige shades to add a subtle contour down the bridge of the nose. Instead of using bronzer all over the face, try working it just below the cheekbones for a contoured blush.

Similarly, don’t jettison your summery glosses–use them over lipstick to create a bewitching vampy pout. Instead of working it over the entire lip, dab your gloss onto the center of the bottom lip as a sexy highlight.

Speaking of highlighters, you could also use them to add richness to your eye shadows. You may have used them on the cheekbones, brow bones or mixed them with your foundation in the summer. As the weather cools, experiment by applying them over the entire eye lid as a base to your shadows. Then press your favorite shimmer or matte shadow over the top for a luxurious intensity.
