Self Magazine Shares Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo’s Diet and Fitness Tips & Tricks!!

Think it’s easy being a celebrity? Being an actor takes a lot of time on set and having a life outside that is not always so easy. Add in a hit TV show and being pregnant, and well life gets complicated. Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo was recently featured in Self Magazine and they shared it with a couple other websites: That’s Fit and also TheCelebrityWorkout.com .

Post-Pregnancy Workout
To tone her stomach after giving birth, Ellen Pompeo used an intense core workout. Ellen’s trainer Gregg Miele, who also trained Gisele Bündchen and Nicole Richie post-pregnancy, shared Ellen’s ab workout with Self. Ellen Pompeo toned her abs using a stability ball for “around-the-world abs” and plank ups, which are a combination of planks and sit-ups. Check out Ellen’s ab workout here.

Ellen Pompeo’s Healthy Diet on the Go
Ellen Pompeo eats a healthy diet despite her busy schedule by preparing meals in advance. Ellen says “On Sundays, I pre-make everything for salads. I boil a dozen eggs and parboil beets. I chop lettuce, cilantro, scallions and parsley and put it all in ziplock bags. During the week, I just grab handfuls, add dressing, dump in a can of beans, some goat cheese, and I’m ready to go.”

Furthermore, Ellen Pompeo follows an “Energy Diet” which focuses on six key foods. Ellen’s diet includes bananas, which are filling and a great source of fiber, and mangoes, which have 75% of your daily vitamin C requirement in one cup. Her diet also includes garbanzo beans and eggs for protein. Finally, the Grey’s Anatomy star eats sardines and almonds for their heart-healthy nutrients and vitamins. Check out this article about the health benefits of sardines!

With kudos and thanks to all these blogs and publications, I am running the video of the ab workout that Ellen Pompeo used to get back into shape and still uses according to my sources.

The workout is interesting and easily done — note that easily depends on how often you work your abs and I do a lot of ab work and while this would be challenging, it won’t kill me to do all of it. However if you don’t do a lot of ab work or aren’t working out much, start slow and be sure to check with your medical professional about this workout and this food regimen.
