Books are a wise choice–whether pricey coffee table books with gorgeous photography or useful books like these next two books, you can’t go wrong

I Come First by MH Nicholas,
How the Individual Ego Rules Every Business Decision

I Come First is a discussion of human behavior. If we understand this, not only can this offer a platform of understanding, but it can offer a wide range of tools designed to make you more effective in this world. This is a book that’s more than just inter-personal relations– this is a book that you can use in all facets of your life– but first try it at work. It will change so many things in your professional life that you will be stunned you didn’t figure it out sooner.

Stever Robbins wrote a highly useful book that will help you accomplish more in less time. REALLY!! The Get-It-Done Guy’s 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More

There are only 9 things you need to master to not only can control of your work life — but of your career too. Here’s a video where Stever Robbins talks about “time management”. There’s a lot of stuff for anyone of any age to use to get organized, be more efficient and get stuff DONE!

DVDS:
The easy out is to give a month of Netflix.com video rentals.
However if you are looking at buying just one DVD and thinking what’s out there that’s under-rated but a good film, here are three of them. All tanked in theaters but honestly, I thought all of them had value, great acting and would appeal to a variety of people
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Combo Pack starring Nicholas Cage . Fun for the tween, teen and adult crowd, there’s something interesting to watch here. While Cage could have used some personal clean-up, the acting is spot-on and it was an interesting thing to watch- compared to some of the other CGI driven movies out there.

Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise. This movie died in theaters. I think it was more about Tom Cruise looking like he went back to his “dating Katie Holmes”/Oprah PA” days that made people feel queasy about this movie. Could be that they wanted more for the $$ to get into the theater. As a DVD, it’s perfectly funny and actually keeps your attention and there some great action scenes. Worth getting anyone who wants an action flick to keep them amused.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps with Michael Douglas and Shia LeBouf .
An exceedingly well-done movie, Douglas brings back Gordon Gecko with full force as if he never left the character. LeBouf is a bit uneven but PERFECT as the ambitious Wall Street guy who has tons of ambition and a project to drive home. (why he’s so attached to this, isn’t quite explained well enough) . Carey Mulligan is great but I don’t see much attraction between the two (*IMHO) but her chemistry with Douglas in the father-daughter seems was palpable. You could feel the tension, the anger, the grief.
GREAT movie and one worth having or giving to someone who likes well-done dramas!

If you are thinking about giving wine or spirits, check back to the post that ran earlier today on wine and specialty spirits. There is something at every price point from sky-high to really affordable ($15!!) .

Also gift cards for various movie theaters are great ideas– because there are a ton of movies in theaters that are worth seeing. You can find gift cards at your local theater box office or even drugstores and supermarkets. It’s easy, fast and affordable.

These are the JOY Leggings in black– buy them for her. Or at least get a gift card.

For a gift with a “value add”, Objects with Purpose definitely brings more to the table. While there are a variety of candles from large to small with amazing scents, the Purpose Necklace caught my eye and keeps coming back to my consciousness. (must be telling me something)

A tiny message in a bottle, delicately hangs from a chain made in Paris of copper dipped in gold. Comes in a muslin bag with a Swarovski crystal or black pearl. Choose from 3 Petite parchments:
1. “Today I will speak my truth”
2. “Today I will follow my intuition”
3. Blank – waiting for whatever purpose you desire.

Definitely a unique gift and something she will never forget.

Aqua Madonna, an intriguing line of handbags from large to clutch or smaller with a variety of presentations. Here are but two to show you. Visit the site. I am sure you can find something– but if not, ask about a gift card.

Jo– a washed leather satchel.
