June 15 is National Lobster Day. Cook Up a Busha Browne Lobster Roll! #Recipe

By the time you finish reading this, you will note that MONDAY is 6/15 and National Lobster Day. Not all of us can take off work to stand in line to buy a lobster roll sandwich. While these sandwiches can be pricey, there are locations even in So. California where you can get them for reasonable prices. Check out these places (most you have never heard of or thought would have this kind of sandwich:

Pier 76 Fish Grill $ 12.50 approx.
The Big Catch Seafood $16-18 approx (depends on lunch or dinner)
Great seafood but no lobster roll:
Long Beach Fish Grill
Berth 55 Fish Market

Anyway.. some people will not want to cook and others will. Count me in on both sides but since I would be making this with Busha Browne’s great condiments, I will stick with doing this at home. Why? 1) faster, 2) less expensive, 3) I can create my own special sauce and mayo from the fabulous Busha Browne’s products and 4) I can put in more lobster than most would do.

Note: Father’s Day is coming up and cooking for dad is often very much appreciated when it’s something like lobster rolls. So kick things up a notch for dad and family buy gathering some Busha Browne products and whip up a platter full of lobster rolls and don’t forget the baked beans and the cole slaw!

Disclosure: I was provided Busha Browne products a couple of months ago. I have been having fun cooking with them since that’s the only way one can tell how good something is. It in no way impairs my ability to be impartial and provide a fair review. (I disclosed this before in a couple of other posts. I am just doing due diligence here).

Busha Browne Homemade Jiffy Mayonnaise Recipe

mayo

Ingredients:

2 small eggs ( we don’t have small eggs here in So. California. So use either medium or large eggs and figure if you use large eggs, you might need only one!)

1 tsp Powdered Mustard

1 tsp Salt

pukka-pepper-sauce

1/4 tsp of Busha Browne Pukka Hot Pepper Sauce

2 tsp Granulated Sugar

1 1/4cups Extra virgin olive oil, divided

1/4 cup Lime juice

Directions:

Put first five ingredients into blender with 1/4 cup of the olive oil.
Cover and blend until thoroughly mixed.

While the blender is still running, slowly add a further 1/2 cup of the olive oil.
When that has been absorbed, gradually add the lime juice, processing until thoroughly blended.
Add the remaining 1/2 cup olive oil slowly, blending until the mixture has thickened.

Stop and stir occasionally, scraping down the sides of the blender jar.
Refrigerate and use within 2 or 3 days.

Once you have made the mayo, put the sandwich together and have yourself a spicy great time. Yummy!!

  1. Yours will taste better than the restaurants..those who have not tried fresh mayo just don’t know how good it can be. Happy lobster roll…not need to travel to Maine.

  2. I have made fresh mayo before Pam in a blender when I was in college. Now I know how to cook so much better (and I have an herb garden too) that will make someone swoon….. at the idea of this. BUT I think I want to nail down the place in DT LB where they have that one sandwich for under $15!
